While in recent days, Brie Larson has been all about revealing first looks of her upcoming MCU feature, The Marvels and sharing with fans how she became fitness obsessed, over the weekend the actress put Fast X fans into overdrive when she finally revealed a name for her fresh-to-the-franchise character. In an Instagram post, which you can see above, the Room star leans up against her trailer, showing off a big smile. Next to her hand, we can see the name “TESS” typed out on a laminated piece of paper, giving us one more clue into the character that Larson will be portraying in the upcoming film.
Just last month, fellow Fast & Furious franchise newbie, Jason Momoa shared some info surrounding his character, which will see the Aquaman star stepping out of his good guy shoes and turning into a villain. Unlike Brie Larson’s name drop, Momoa only gave us a tease of what to expect surrounding his character’s looks, referring to the bad guy as “eccentric” and not as alpha male macho as roles we’ve seen him in in the past. In Fast X, the Momoa will join up with fellow baddies played by Jason Statham, John Cena, and Charlize Theron – although it’s unclear as to whether Statham’s Shaw will still be as bad to the bone as he once was following the events of Hobbs & Shaw.
For the absolutely jacked Brie Larson, she’ll join a cast set to include a lot of familiar faces as well as some new-to-the-franchise actors. Returning or newly joining for some engine roaring action in Fast X will be a call sheet including the likes of Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Michael Rooker, Helen Mirren, Cardi B, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, and Rita Moreno.
Penned by Justin Lin and Dan Mazeau, the film will serve as a sequel to 2021’s F9. The beginning of filming for the Brie Larson led feature hit quite a few snags after four-time franchise director Lin (Fast & Furious, Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, F9) departed the production citing creative differences during the first month of filming. Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk) would quickly step in, allowing cameras to continue rolling.
As for Brie Larson, the celebrated actress has more than one project up her sleeve these days. Along with the highly anticipated 2023 feature, The Marvels, that will see Larson reprising her role as the fan favorite Captain Marvel, the Academy Award winner also has a slew of television streaming in the making. Between Disney+, Amazon, Apple TV+ and Netflix, it seems everyone wants a piece of the star.
For Disney+, Brie Larson recently dropped a docuseries titled Growing Up that follows the stories of several young adults from varying backgrounds and focuses on their lives and daily struggles. For this project, Larson stood behind it as the piece’s director and executive producer.
As for her onscreen appearances, fans can expect to see Brie Larson take on the leading role of Victoria Woodhull, America’s first female presidential candidate, in a biopic for Amazon. For Apple TV+, she’ll appear in two productions, one being a drama surrounding the life of CIA agent Amaryllis Fox, and the other in the dramedy Lessons in Chemistry. Finally, the actress will join the cast of Netflix’s Lady Business that will focus on the true story of two female entrepreneurs.
