Following a recent announcement that Academy Award-winning actor, Tom Hanks, is eager to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Keke Palmer is the latest celebrity hoping to land a role in the highly successful film series. According to The Direct, the Lightyear actress reacted to a fan’s Tik Tok video pushing for her to play Rogue, a prominent character in the X-Men universe. She shared the video via Twitter, with the caption “Come on agentttttttt,” indicating a desire to portray the mutant once the X-Men finally make their MCU debut.

Rogue is a reoccurring character in various comic books published by Marvel Comics. Although she debuted as a villain in Avengers Annual #10, which was released in 1981, she has joined the X-Men as a heroine since then. Fans are convinced that Keke Palmer would pair well with the mutant because of her personality and the characters she’s portrayed in previous movies.

Before Disney purchased 20th Century Fox in a landmark deal back in 2019, the latter held the rights to the X-Men team and other related characters. The studio released 12 movies featuring the mutants, with Rogue appearing in four of them: 2000’s X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Anna Paquin portrayed the character in all four films, but if fans have their way, the torch will be passed on to Keke Palmer.

This isn’t the first time the Nope star has expressed an interest in joining a Marvel project.  Back in 2010, Keke Palmer was reportedly offered a role in Hulu’s original series Runaways. The show, which was originally imagined as a movie, follows a group of teenagers, who band together to run away from their homes in order to atone for their parents’ actions and to discover the secrets of their origins.

While Keke Palmer ultimately declined a role in the Hulu series, the actress participated in an interview with The Playlist in 2010, where she seemed to show some interest in joining the Marvel project. She said, “[True Jackson, VP] had me tied up so much that I haven’t been able to do much of anything else.” She went on to say, “I’ve had a nice little break with the steady TV show, but I’m definitely ready to do some more films again. I was just asked to join a new Marvel comic project called, Runaways.”

Running for a total of three seasons from 2017 to 2019, Runaways was canceled following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. According to series star Gregg Sulkin, the merging of the two studios had nothing to do with the show being axed, citing negotiations with the cast and crew for future iterations of the show as the likely cause for the series’ cancellation. It looks like Keke Palmer dodged a bullet there!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is ever-expanding, and it’s the most lucrative collection of films in the history of cinema. Across 29 movies, the MCU has grossed a whopping $27 billion in box office earnings. It’s easy to see why Keke Palmer would want to be a part of the successful cinematic universe.

The X-Men won’t be making their MCU debut for quite some time. Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently revealed a roadmap for every Marvel project releasing between now and 2025, and the team of mutants was nowhere to be found. Fortunately for Keke Palmer, that simply means there’s plenty of time to campaign for the part of Rogue.
