Harry Styles broke his way into the MCU as Eros in The Eternals, but the creator of the character says that it won’t work, as Eros is a “sociopath” and “sexual predator.” Marvel has certainly had no issues with altering their character in the past, so it is likely that Eros’s origins can also be messed with. Still, a sexual predator in the comics that is now in a live-action movie might cause some issues.

Jim Starlin, the creator of Eros, openly discussed the character’s downfalls. He expressed the struggles that Marvel might have by allowing the character to exist in live action. According to Starling:

“Eros, on the other hand, he’s an interesting one. I have no idea what they’re going to do with him. I sort of left him as a sociopath, and he is sort of a sexual predator.”

How exactly is Eros a sexual predator in the comics? Well, the character uses his psionic powers to reach the pleasure center of people, he can also manipulate them to feel affection towards one another. Basically, the character can force people to love one another and him. That is quite gross, and something that Harry Styles might take issue with.

Again, Marvel has no issues with changing how characters are within the MCU. Take Namor, for instance, his origin has been completely changed for Black Panther 2. He still hangs with the Atlanteans, but he now comes from a background of the Mayan and Aztec cultures. Eros could simply be changed into someone that turns on the charm, and Harry Styles would likely be able to do that quite well.

There hasn’t exactly been a plan for The Eternals to get a sequel film just yet, but if Marvel plans on extending their story, Eros will certainly have to be altered. Harry Styles is a wonderful actor, but we don’t foresee him being ok with being the sexual predator of the MCU, and we don’t think anyone would be comfortable in that role.

The Eternals were not brought up at San Diego Comic-Con when Kevin Feige announced the Phase 5 and 6 roadmaps. They were also not brought up at the most recent D23 Expo, which is a Disney convention that highlights everything that the media company is set to release. Marvel announced some great things, but Harry Styles, Eros, and the rest of the cast were not among those announcements.

Eros (Harry Styles) was only part of the ending of The Eternals, as he appeared in a post-credits scene along with Pip the Troll. Though the relationship between Eros and Pip the Troll has been compared to Chewie and Han Solo, Eros might not be brought back once people catch wind of the character’s issues. Eros could just simply be altered in a way that showcases he is not a sexual deviant as well.

Eros being introduced as a character in the post-credits scene also means that maybe Marvel has different plans for him. He could just be a supporting character that pops up occasionally. Harry Styles does have the acting chops to lead an ensemble, but he could be happy with just somewhat appearing at random times in the multiverse storylines that are part of the MCU’s continuity.
