Sydney Sweeney seems to be having the time of her life, judging by the video above. The retro-themed footage was posted to the Euphoria star’s extremely popular Instagram account, which currently boasts over 14 million followers. It documents Sydney Sweeney’s arrival at the ongoing Venice Film Festival, which is apparently a first for the quickly rising young superstar. That is a pretty big deal for anyone, considering that some of the most anticipated and critically acclaimed films of the year (and some of the most drama-plagued) are premiered at the Venice Film Festival. It is understandable that even someone as used to being in the spotlight as Sydney Sweeney would be overwhelmed.
Sydney Sweeney’s video begins with a wide shot of a water taxi cruising up to the Floating City itself, which has been welcoming a whole cavalcade of the world’s most talented and beautiful actors. Venice has long been considered one of the most picturesque and unique cities in Europe, so it makes sense that anyone could be a little awestruck approaching it. The video then cuts to a stunning Sydney Sweeney in the back of the water taxi, clad in a black Armani gown and a matching bow in her blonde hair. We see her applying makeup coyly, framed against the sun, which is a sight for anyone to see.
Next, the video cuts to Sydney Sweeney (now clad in a white outfit) widely smiling and sticking out her tongue, followed by her eating a bright orange ice cream cone with a wicked expression. The song “Ragtime” by Peerless plays over the video, while Sydney Sweeney herself is heard in a voiceover describing her excitement about being present for the film festival. From there, the video seems to exhaustively document the hours up until the red carpet, with multiple shots of Sydney Sweeney having her makeup done, gazing into mirrors, recording herself recording herself on camera, and finally dramatically walking the carpet in her Armani gown.
Sydney Sweeney is not starring in any of the films being presented at the Venice Film Festival this year, but it is no doubt one of the best places for an up-and-coming star to see and be seen. So far, the Martin McDonagh film Banshees of Inisherin (starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson) has received the most acclaim, with a standing ovation lasting nearly 13 minutes. The Whale, directed by Darren Aronofsky, has also been highly applauded, with star Brendan Fraser visibly emotional at the audience response (and applauded by his former co-star Dwayne Johnson). On the lower end of the scale, the Olivia Wilde thriller Don’t Worry Darling has been continually dogged by rumors of production difficulties, casting changes, and rumors of interpersonal squabbles, which has been reflected in its critical reception.
Sydney Sweeney will be returning in the upcoming next season of the hit HBO Max show Euphoria. She will also be seen in the new Sony Pictures movie Madame Web, alongside Dakota Johnson and Adam Scott. Have fun at the festival, for now, Sydney Sweeney!
