There is a lot to appreciate about the film career of famed actor Robert Pattinson. The 36-year-old British performer came to be known to global audiences as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, but it was his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight film series that seemed to make him a household name. Since his time in teenage angst fantasy worlds, Pattinson seems to have become quite choosy with his film roles, often taking on independent movies and serious dramas. His turn as an emo Bruce Wayne in 2022’s The Batman saw the actor in a new light, playing a detective while embodying the cape crusader look. With a possible sequel on the way, fans have begun making Pattinson’s Batman into what they envision him to look like in future installments.
With a specific look to it and a concept that screams modernization, fans have chosen to reimagine Robert Pattinson’s costume for the sequel to The Batman. In this developed fan art that has made its way onto social media, it appears that audiences may be looking for Pattinson’s costume as Batman to be a bit more stealthy. MovieWeb describes the updated costume as a more accurate portrayal of what the character looks like in the DC Comics that bear his name. One item, in particular, that should be noted on the design posted to Instagram by artist Jaxson Derr is the white eyes on Pattinson’s face and mask. This was touched on in a small portion of The Dark Knight, but the white eyes have typically been a trademark for the character in the comics. No other iterations of Batman have included the eyes, most likely because that is difficult to do on film.
According to a report by The Hollywood Report, Robert Pattinson will be back for a sequel to The Batman, which is still in development. The original film’s director, Matt Reeves, looks to be joining the sequel in directing again and will be writing the screenplay alongside Mattson Tomlin. Since the film is still in the process of casting and the script has yet to be written, it may take some time for the sequel to see the light of day. However, fans’ ideas of what the costume for Batman should look like may be noted by the filmmakers before the movie starts pre-production.
The Batman was released earlier this year to a lot of fanfare after several films that saw actor Ben Affleck in the role. Robert Pattinson took on the iconic superhero in a brooding and much darker fashion, complete with black and grey tones and a smudged makeup look on his face. The movie went on to gross over $770 million against a budget of $200 million and costarred Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, and Colin Farrell. Rotten Tomatoes currently ranks The Batman as Certified Fresh with an 85% on its Tomatometer based on 499 critics’ reviews as well as an Audience Score of 87% from over 10,000 ratings for users.
