We might have to wait a little longer to get the Aquaman sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom after the most recent delay, but it seems like we’ll at least get a few surprises as a reward for our patience. Recently, at the premiere of his See TV series, Jason Momoa teased that there might be more than one Batman appearing in the Aquaman sequel. While Momoa had previously dropped the news that Ben Affleck would be appearing in the sequel, the possibility of an additional Batman could mean that Michael Keaton could be making his big return to the role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Check out the clip below:

Michael Keaton was all set to make his appearance as Batman/Bruce Wayne in Batgirl, which would have already been released…if Warner Discovery didn’t shelve it. The anticipated film was basically complete but was apparently cut for tax reasons, even though it already had $90 million sunk into production. The film would have starred Leslie Grace in the titular role with Brendan Fraser playing the villain. While we won’t get to see Keaton in Batgirl, he is set to be in the upcoming The Flash, which is coming out on June 23, 2023.

Batgirl was all set to reintroduce Michael Keaton’s character to audiences, but now it looks like that story beat will be relegated to The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom instead. It’s unclear how this will factor into the new movie, but it’ll be interesting to see if it does happen. While Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom isn’t at risk of getting shelved like Batgirl, it hasn’t been without its share of troubles. It has faced multiple release delays and there has been a lot of controversy around star Amber Heard, with many fans petitioning for her to be removed from the film. However, it seems like Warner Discovery is moving forward with the film as is. Currently, the plot is being kept under wraps, but Jason Momoa will be returning to the title role with James Wan returning to the director’s chair. The cast will also include Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Temuera Morrison, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Kidman, Ben Affleck, Jani Zhao, Randall Park, and more.

As mentioned, The Flash is also set to star Michael Keaton and has thus far avoided any plans of it being canceled, but star Ezra Miller has been mired in legal issues as of late, causing The Flash to absorb some controversies as well. The Flash is rumored to feature a multiverse-spanning plot, so Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck both appearing as Batman makes sense. The cast of The Flash also includes Michael Shannon, Temerua Morrison, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdu, Sasha Calle, and more.

While we might have to wait until The Flash to see Michael Keaton reprise one of his best roles, we won’t have to wait too much longer to see the next DCEU film. Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is set to come out on October 21. Make sure to check it out to keep up with the ongoing DC film story.
