Winnie the Pooh has officially gone into the public domain. This means that anyone can use the characters for anything they see fit without having to worry about copyright issues. Well, people have taken that quite literally, as there is now going to be a Winnie the Pooh horror film. This horror film is called Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. Yes, you read that right. There is a horror film that is based on the characters of arguably one of the biggest childhood stories. Also, we have been given the first trailer for the film, and it is quite unbelievable. You can see this wild trailer below:
The sheer premise of the film is enough to make people wonder what twisted minds have brought this to life. The Winnie the Pooh horror movie is based on the idea that Christopher Robin abandons Pooh and Piglet, who then go on a murderous rampage because of being abandoned. The above trailer paints that perfectly, only the characters look like pure nightmare fuel. Also, it would appear that the first victim on the list of Pooh and Piglet’s rampage is poor Eeyore. A group of people is then mercilessly killed by the pair of once stuffed animals. There is even a shot of Piglet smashing someone’s head off with what appears to be a sledgehammer.
Apparently, Christopher Robin leaving Pooh and Piglet in the fictional 100 Acre Woods was enough to make them go a bit crazy. Robin is also trying to show what appears to be his fiance, but that leads to the revelation that they have possibly killed Eeyore. This film looks to be quite twisted, and honestly, we can’t wait to see it. There is nothing better than a B-level horror film, and now we get to see the twisted versions of Piglet and Pooh bringing forth terror in this Winnie the Pooh horror film. It is quite a clever way to use the characters, now that they are in the public domain. Even the name of the film has a good ring to it. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. Sign us up.
The interesting thing is that Tigger is still part of copyright material, likely because the character has been a bit more optioned recently. He was part of Disney more recently. Depending on how long it takes that character to reach the public domain, we could see a Winnie the Pooh horror film sequel in the future. We are not entirely sure if that is the plan, but this film looks to be the kind of horror film that will garner a huge cult following.
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey has a 2022 release date window, though we have not been given the exact date yet. The “coming soon” designation on the trailer could mean that the film is going to be released within the next couple of months. This would be the perfect type of film to gather around for Halloween. Nothing says fall like everyone’s favorite childhood characters going crazy and murdering people. We can’t wait for this Winnie the Pooh horror film.
