Mayim Bialik’s Celebrity Jeopardy Reveals Famous Contestants
Mayim Bialik will be hosting the fan-favorite Celebrity Jeopardy! tournament. The host has now revealed which celebrity guests will compete against one another.
Mayim Bialik has revealed the famous contestants who will appear in ABC’s starry primetime run of Celebrity Jeopardy! When the series debuts in September, Marvel star Simu Liu, comedian Ray Romano, Fresh Off the Boat alum Constance Wu, Patton Oswalt, Iliza Shlesinger, Aisha Tyler, Michael Cera, B.J. Novak, and Candace Parker, will compete to win money for a charity of their choosing. “It’s the OG Jeopardy! with celebrities,” the newly minted host says in the preview clip. “Let’s hope they’ve been reading more than screenplays.”
Celebrity Jeopardy! was announced last month with Mayim Bialik confirmed as host. The Big Bang Theory alum also recently signed on to co-host the flagship series along with Ken Jennings when it returns for its 39th season this fall. Executive producer Michael Davies revealed the completion of deals via Deadline. “We have so much Jeopardy! to make, and so many plans for the future, that we always knew we would need multiple hosts for the franchise,” he said. Citing the rating boost, he said everyone is grateful that Mayim and Ken stepped in and stepped up to put the show in a position to succeed.
At the time, Davis also explained that Jennings will take to the main podium for Jeopardy’s! first batch of new episodes with Mayim Bialik returning as series host in January. The actress has a slightly complicated schedule as she juggles the quiz show’s demands while shooting her popular comedy series Call Me Kat. Before becoming official co-hosts, the pair had already been sharing the responsibility after Alex Trebek’s death in 2020. Producer Mike Richards had initially been named as the new host. But he stepped down following allegations of misconduct.
Interestingly, Jeopardy! tried out several hosts before finally landing on Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings. Sadly, the former has always been on the receiving end of viewer backlash. Social media exploded with horrible feedback when the actress did a slightly odd impression of Arnold Schwarzenegger when revealing the answer to a question about one of his movies. Following the blunder, folks pleaded with the network to make Jennings the full-time host, The Sun reported at the time. There were even calls for a boycott of the series when the news of Bialik’s permanent position was announced. However, seemingly oblivious to threats from viewers, Jeopardy! bosses have stood by their decision.
In addition to naming Mayim Bialik as a permanent co-host, she will also take to the podium for Celebrity Jeopardy! and all other special tournaments. Meanwhile, Ken Jennings will host the Second Chance Tournament and the Tournament of Champions. For anyone who still wants more Jeopardy! the series has launched a topical weekly podcast called Inside Jeopardy! It promises to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at America’s favorite quiz show, covering topics like gameplay analysis, backstage stories, official announcements, and special interviews. The show will be available wherever on Spotify, Apple, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
Hosted by Mayim Bialik Celebrity Jeopardy! is set to premiere on September 25th on ABC and will also be available to stream on Hulu.
