See The First Look At Chris Hemsworth In Full Costume For Mad Max Prequel
Chris Hemsworth is soon to star in the Mad Max prequel along with Anya Taylor-Joy and he certainly looks the part.
On the heels of the monstrous box office success that Thor: Love and Thunder brought into theaters this summer, actor Chris Hemsworth has gone right back to work. The Australian actor known for hit movies like Rush and Cabin in the Woods has been busy filming and promoting new films to add to his incredible career. Hemsworth will soon be doing press interviews for Extraction 2, the sequel to the 2020 action thriller that saw the actor portray an internationally renowned mercenary. Now, it appears that Chris Hemsworth has been spotted in full costume for a new Mad Max prequel currently filming in his native Australia, and the photos have started making the rounds on social media.
Cast in a currently unknown role, Chris Hemsworth is filming the Mad Max prequel entitled Furiosa for director George Miller. In the pictures posted to Twitter, Hemsworth is sporting a gold jacket to reflect the desert wastelands in which many of the Mad Max franchise characters have found themselves. In one of the photos, Hemsworth looks to be riding in a gigantic truck, similar to the one seen in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road. Appearing to be covered in dirt and carrying a large, grey beard around his face, the Men in Black: International actor seems to be ready for his close-up.
According to a report by The Direct, Chris Hemsworth has been cast alongside Anya Taylor-Joy in Furiosa, the latest addition to the Mad Max franchise that has swept the world since 1979. In this spin-off version of the film series, Anya Taylor-Joy will play Imperator Furiosa, the younger version of Charlize Theron’s character from Mad Max: Fury Road. Furiosa is confirmed to be a standalone entry into the franchise, designed to highlight Imperator Furiosa’s dominance as a female warrior in a world full of men battling for survival. Mank actor Tom Burke, wrestler Nathan Jones, and Angus Sampson have also been confirmed to costar in the prequel along with Hemsworth and Taylor-Joy. Variety reports that filming for Furiosa has been underway since the beginning of June.
As Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy get set to debut their new Mad Max prequel sometime in 2024, audiences are still invested in George Miller’s return to form in Mad Max: Fury Road. After 30 years of no Mad Max-related films since Mel Gibson donned the famous character’s attributes, Miller released Mad Max: Fury Road in May 2015. The movie went on to gross more than $375 million at the box office against a budget of nearly $185 million. Starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, the movie was successful with critics and audiences alike, with Rotten Tomatoes currently ranking the film as Certified Fresh with a staggering 97% on its Tomatometer. Similarly, the Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes is ranked at 86%, which typically denotes that audiences enjoyed the movie and are interested in seeing more like it. Hopefully, if the pictures released of Furiosa are any indication, the prequel might end up being a crowd-pleaser.
