Kevin Feige Has Revealed The Truth About Captain America
Finally, we know!
One of the most widely debated topics amongst MCU fans has to do with the sex life of Captain America and whether our star-spangled hero died a virgin. Thanks to Marvel head Kevin Feige and the premiere episode of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, the answer has finally been brought to light.
During the first episode of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, a conversation takes place between Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) and her cousin Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). The former makes the case that because of Steve Rogers’ obligations to save the world, he never got the opportunity to lose his virginity. Although her claim is supported by strong evidence, Banner eventually sets the record straight. Steve lost his virginity to a woman on the USO tour in 1943. It’s a wild revelation and one that Kevin Feige offered up himself to She-Hulk showrunner Jessica Gao. As reported by THR, Gao said, “Kevin was really into that joke and he actually was the one who volunteered the answer to that question.”
It’s common knowledge at this point that Kevin Feige has a hand in every project under the MCU banner, and She-Hulk is no exception. When discussing how Captain America’s virginity came up as a topic the show wanted to explore, Gao had to run things by the Marvel head. In a recent interview, she states “Our philosophy was really just like let’s just do things until they tell us we can’t because if you start asking for permission too much, then you’re giving people a chance to say no.” Thankfully, once Feige knew about the joke, he was totally on board.
Steve Rogers’ virginity has been a topic of discussion as far back as 2014, even with that actor who portrays him. It an interview with Vanity Fair, Chris Evans said, “It’s funny when you think about it. He’s probably a virgin. He’s probably a virgin! I don’t know when it would’ve happened.” Is it possible Kevin Feige knew all the way back then that Steve was no longer pure and he just didn’t let the actor in on the tea? The Marvel chief is not only known for his secrecy, but he’s also a master of his craft, mapping out details of his universe far in advance. With that said, it would certainly come as no surprise if Feige had been sitting on the knowledge of Steve’s sex life all these years. Regardless, it’s nice to finally have the cat out of the bag.
Disney+ has opened up a whole new gateway for the MCU. She-Hulk is a prime example of the topics that can be explored within the television show format. Although Bruce Banner/The Hulk has been featured prominently throughout Phase 1-3 of the MCU, She-Hulk has allowed further exploration of the character. The show is a welcome addition to what’s already the biggest cinematic universe on the planet, and Kevin Feige is certainly using them to his advantage. If a show such as She-Hulk can delve into something as intimate as Captain America’s sex-life, the possibilities are truly endless.
Kevin Feige is currently hard at work orchestrating the next phase of the MCU which will include films like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Blade and Captain America: New World Order. In the meantime, Phase 4 is in full motion with She-Hulk as its latest entry. The series is currently streaming on Disney+ and stars Tatiana Maslany, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth, Charlie Cox, Steve Coulter and Benedict Wong. The show was created by Jessica Gao.
