Kanye West’s online trolling of Pete Davidson has sent the former Saturday Night Live cast member into therapy, according to a report in People Magazine. His recent breakup with Kim Kardashian likely won’t help but having to face the wrath of a Grammy-winning artist for months was just too much, according to reports. The revelation comes after numerous instances of West, Kim’s soon-to-be-ex-husband, publicly criticizing and openly mocking the comedian. That included a meme posted to his Instagram on Monday that many felt was over the line. It referred to Davidson’s death and was later removed.

Online bullying is a real and dangerous problem, and even celebrities must deal with it. It is rare, however, for bullying to occur publicly between two celebrities, but Kanye West has been clearly angry over his divorce and Kim Kardashian’s new beau. Pete Davidson has been open about his past drug use and mental health issues. He has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder, and Kanye’s public trolling reportedly led to Davidson seeking help beginning in April. “The attention and negativity coming from Kanye and his antics is a trigger (for Pete), and he’s had to seek out help,” a source told People. Davidson has discussed his past suicidal thoughts and the pain of losing his father in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. That makes the meme West posted even more callous.

Kardashian and Davidson have been an item for months after the reality TV star filed for divorce from Kanye West in February of last year. Kardashian appeared on Saturday Night Live in October of 2021, where she performed in a skit with Pete Davidson, and that sparked their relationship. The pair have dominated tabloid news headlines ever since, and West upped the ante by publicly trolling the pair on social media, with Davidson bearing the brunt of the attacks.

Kanye West posted numerous rants on Instagram about Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson, which led to the social media platform banning him for a time. Even after being reinstated, it seems the singer couldn’t help himself, as he posted a meme on Monday morning stating “Skete Davidson Dead at 28,” coldly mocking the recent breakup. West even managed to take a shot at Kid Cudi, whom he is feuding with as well. Beneath the headline was a line that read “Kid Cudi meant to play funeral but fearful of bottle throwers.” That may have been the last straw for either Instagram or Kardashian, as the post later disappeared. It is not clear if West took it down himself, Instagram removed it for him, or if Kardashian (who has 328 million followers), asked Instagram to do it.

The Kanye West accusations come just as Radar Online is reporting that a marriage proposal may have been the catalyst for the breakup. According to sources close to Kim Kardashian, Pete Davidson reportedly her to marry him, which led her to believe the 28-year-old was moving too fast in their relationship. “Kim wanted to slow things down and instead Pete proposed,” Radar reports. “Everyone warned him that he was going to push her away, but he didn’t listen.” The source pointed out that Davidson also proposed to his last girlfriend, singer Ariana Grande, early in their relationship before they eventually split. Some reports, however, state that the breakup was due to the pair living different lives with different commitments, with no time to be together.
