Posting to her over 7.9 million Instagram followers, Halle Berry shows off a new look with purple hair and a stare that says she doesn’t seem to care. Quipping about how she doesn’t appear to be busy these days, Berry shows off her new do ahead of her birthday this week when she turns 56 years old. According to InStyle, Berry recently flaunted her new look while on a date night with her musician boyfriend Van Hunt as they attended a boxing match in Los Angeles. Berry has been in a relationship with the Grammy Award winner since 2020, after high-profile relationships and marriages to baseball player David Justice, singer Eric Benét, fashion model Gabriel Aubry, and French actor Olivier Martinez.
With a look that reminds fans of her character Storm from the X-Men franchise, Halle Berry makes it known that she is still very much part of the entertainment industry. Before making her directorial debut in 2020 with Netflix’s gritty UFC drama Bruised, Berry made a name for herself by starring in a string of made-for-television movies in the 1990s while juggling a burgeoning film career in sultry roles. Her most notable performance at the time came from Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. The biographical film earned the actor an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award for her performance in the lead role of performer Dorothy Dandridge. Her award season grab proved to be a successful endeavor for the Cleveland-born actor.
Catching the eye of producer Lee Daniels and director Marc Forester, Halle Berry went on to star in Monster’s Ball. In his review of Monster’s Ball, noted BBC film critic Ben Falk called Berry’s performance her “best-ever,” as the film generated a lot of praise from critics and audiences at the time. Currently, Rotten Tomatoes has the movie ranked with an 85% on its Tomatometer, marking Monster’s Ball as Certified Fresh from the site’s critics. Berry went on to win the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as Leticia Musgrove in the drama and became the first Black woman to win the award. As of 2022, Berry is still the only Black woman to take home the Oscar for Best Actress. Berry is next to be seen in the film Our Man from Jersey, due to be released soon alongside Mark Wahlberg and J.K. Simmons.
