See Gal Gadot Celebrate A Wrap On Her Latest Film
Gal Gadot has been a monster in the film world, as she continues to garner big roles. Her most recent leading feature has wrapped filming, and the actress celebrated on Instagram.
James Bond is the biggest name in the espionage film game. Nothing is more exciting than a dashing secret agent traversing the world to prevent the worst catastrophes. Especially when they do it with action and flair. For a while now, there has been a call to see James Bond as a female, creating a super-agent that women can get behind as inspiration the way that James Bond did for men. While there has been a lot of backlash and controversy over that idea, Skydance Media and Netflix aren’t waiting for that to become a reality. Instead, they are creating their own spy thriller with a female protagonist, this one led by superstar Gal Gadot. Thanks to her Instagram, fans got an exciting update.
While Heart of Stone has a plot being kept under wraps, it is being described as a spy thriller in the vein of James Bond. Outside of casting news and a few peeks into the project, Gal Gadot and friends have kept an infuriatingly tight lid on things. However, she posted an image of the crew behind her in a selfie with a message that the film had finished shooting and was a wrap. The lead actress revealed the project had been in development for four and a half years with a shooting schedule that spanned five months and just as many countries. She continued by thanking everyone involved.
Gal Gadot is joined in the project by Jamie Dornan of Fifty Shades of Grey fame. He also has gained critical acclaim for his recent projects in Belfast (nominated for Critic’s Choice and Golden Globes) and The Tourist. Also joining them is the criminally underrated Sophie Okonedo, who starred in Hotel Rwanda, The Simple Life of Bees, and alongside Gadot in Death on the Nile. Rounding out the cast is Alia Bhatt, Matthias Schweighofer, and Jing Lusi. The film is directed by Tom Harper, which will be by far his most significant production after making a name for himself with War & Peace, Peaky Blinders, and Aeronauts. DC veteran Greg Rucka, who also penned the script for The Old Guard and the sequel, is co-writing the script with Allison Schroeder. Schroeder is powerful with the female empowered characters as she is known for her work on Hidden Figures (a story behind the critical female team for the space program) and Frozen II.
While not much else is known about the film, with a strong female protagonist and strong females around her, Gal Gadot has a chance to bring women to the spy genre of the industry. Backed by a female writer with a history of portraying women in an empowering way, this film has the chance to be another smash hit for Netflix. With the film wrapping up and the principles on their way home, it is now being sent to editing (which means a trailer is on the way!), and we hope to see Netflix drop the film in the next few months. Who needs James Bond when you can have a bigger and better character who has evolved with the times?
