Beavis and Butt-Head made their epic return via a movie called Beavis and Butt-Head Do The Universe. The film was streamed exclusively on Paramount+, and was the precursor to the show’s brand-new revival. Apart from the film, it was announced that wouldn’t be the last time we would see this epic duo, as the pair are now set to star in a brand-new reboot series that is also going to be streaming on Paramount+. Mike Judge has returned to give us the first look at everyone’s favorite dumb duo in a new trailer. You can see the trailer below:
There were likely some rights issues, as this new series has been coined Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head. Either that or the man is just a fan of slightly rebranding his famous duo. The above trailer looks just as hilarious as the original show was, which constitutes a ton of inappropriate jokes and Butt-Head constantly wailing on Beavis any chance he gets. The quick moment where Beavis is being slapped a bunch to get a mosquito off his face is reminiscent of the old cartoon on MTV. We are more than excited to see this pair return.
Beavis and Butt-Head initially ran from 1993 to 1997 and had been the most highly rated series on MTV. The characters that Mike Judge voiced would go on to take a life of their own, as the neighbor for the boys was the basis of Hank Hill in King of the Hill, another Judge classic. The show ended in 1997 but had been revived for one season in 2011 on MTV. The series was highly rated in the beginning of its run but had dropped off significantly towards the end of its 22-episode run. Comedy Central had initially stepped in to revive the series for the second time in 2020. However, in February of 2022, the show would be announced to be revived on Paramount+, including bringing all 200 previous episodes remastered and with the original music video intact.
Beavis and Butt-Head have turned into one of the most famous comedic duos in the history of television, although some people might not like their style. However, the pair have garnered a cult following that continually shows up to support the bombastic and crude jokes that the boys are constantly throwing out. We are not sure if the new series is going to be making fun of contemporary music, but we can’t wait to find out when the revived series airs next month.
We cannot wait to see the new Beavis and Butt-Head episodes when they air on Paramount+ on August 5th. Even more exciting is fans will get to take a trip back to memory lane when the 200 additional episodes also drop on the streaming platform. Sure, the music they make fun of will be a bit outdated, but it is still going to be hilarious to see the pair making fun of the 1980s and 1990s bands again. Again, we hope to see them making fun of contemporary music in the new revival episodes too.
