If you think you are seeing Sydney Sweeney everywhere these days, you probably aren’t wrong. The actress has had a year in the limelight, garnering some serious awards season buzz, promoting various fashion lines, and just generally seeming to crush it in everything she does. Now she can add major sporting events to the list of accomplishments seeing as how the actress took part in a big moment for a recent Major League Baseball game. And she took to Instagram to show off parts of the day as well. Will she be taking the field as a professional athlete anytime soon? Most definitely not. But she was part of the festivities nonetheless.
Sydney Sweeney was on hand at Fenway Park in Boston on Friday evening throwing out the first pitch before the game between the Red Sox and Blue Jays. Wearing a Red Sox jersey, cut to give the whole thing a slightly sexier vibe, the actress took the mound in front of a packed crowd to ceremonially start the game. She looked right at home doing so even if the pitch itself took some muster to get all the way to the plate. Regardless, this event wasn’t to show off her pitching skills but rather to highlight the career trajectory the actress is on right now. Check out what Sydney Sweeney posted on Instagram for the evening including some shots of her on the field, with the team mascots, enjoying some park fare and of course the pitch itself.
You can also see a video of Sydney Sweeney taking the mound and throwing the first pitch out here. Barstool Sports reckoned that her providing this moment was going to mean good luck for the Red Sox as a team. On that front, they were incorrect. Check out Sydney Sweeney throwing out the pitch.
Was Sydney Sweeney good luck for the Boston Red Sox after this first pitch? Most definitely not. The Red Sox went on to lose that game to the Blue Jays 28-5 in one of the most lopsided baseball scores ever. In fact, Toronto was just two runs away from tying the major league record for most runs scored in a game. It was an epic beatdown. Did Sydney Sweeney have anything to do with that? No, but I can’t imagine she’ll be invited back anytime soon to do it all over again.
Sports aren’t Sydney Sweeney’s calling, but acting is. The talented actress was just nominated for two Primetime Emmys in the same year for her work on a couple of different HBO series. For starters, she is up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her turn as Cassie Howard in Euphoria. And then she is also a nominee for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her role in White Lotus. That’s a pretty good year all-around. And now she can add throwing out a first pitch in front of thousands of fans to the list as well.
