Lifestyle mogul, Martha Stewart is mourning some of her favorite exotic pets. The 80-year-old was the proud owner of six peacocks which were brutally attacked and devoured by coyotes over the weekend. She revealed the tragic news on social media where she described how the vicious creatures pounced on her pets in broad daylight. The entrepreneur also shared a video of a peacock named Blue Boy, showing off his feathers with Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On playing in the background.

Later, Martha Stewart added to the post saying she has no idea how that song found its way onto the sad post. But when Blue Boy was alive it would have been perfectly appropriate. The entrepreneur divulged the name of another magnificent bird in the tribute while asking if anyone knew how to deter six large, aggressive coyotes who have expensive taste when it comes to poultry. The television personality also explained how she’s made some changes to the remaining peacocks living arrangements.

Check out Martha Stewart’s heartfelt message to her pet peacocks below:

The pricey birds will no longer be allowed out of their yard. Their living quarters will also be enclosed with wire fencing at the top. Martha Stewart hopes that these adjustments will prevent future coyote attacks. It’s unclear how many peacocks the businesswoman has now. But in May 2021, she told followers on Twitter that she owned 21 of the glorious birds. “Their voices are loud but such fun to hear, she said in the post. She also noted that peacocks make great pets as they are naturally very clean and super friendly.

The lifestyle guru has been gushing over her feathered friends for a long time. In a blog post on June 30th, she celebrated having three newly hatched peafowl in her stable feed room and more youngsters in an outdoor enclosure. Martha Stewart told readers that the baby chicks need constant monitoring until they are at least four or five weeks old. Speaking about the birds in their entirety, she explained that peacocks and peahens are very smart, docile, and adaptable birds. Adding that they are quite clever and very curious.

This isn’t the first time Martha Stewart has mourned the loss of a pet. Earlier this year, her cat Princess Peony was killed in an encounter with one of her own dogs. Speaking about her loss at the time she said that her four dogs mistook her for an interloper and killed her defenseless little self. She also paid tribute to the feline in a post on Instagram. Alongside a photo of the cat’s burial, she wrote, “Burying the beautiful and unusual Princess Peony. I will miss her very badly.”

According to USA Today, Princess Peony was one of two calico Persian cats that Martha Stewart owned, the other being Empress Tang. The twin felines were adopted by the business savant in September 2009. At the time, various celebrities offered their condolences for the loss of her furry companion. This included the Kardashian-Jenner matriarch Kris Jenner, Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo, former Fox News correspondent Adam Housley, and fashion designer Adam Lippes.
