You can now call a phone number and get to hear one of the best Stranger Things characters on the other end of the line.

Stranger Things fans were treated to some new characters for this fourth season and a couple of them became instant crowdpleasers. It’s a testament to the show that they are able to continue introducing new faces who are able to work their way in with the primary group and also add some laughs along the way. That was definitely the case this time around with us getting Joseph Quinn as Eddie Munson and Eduardo Franco as Argyle. The two had some definitive scene-stealing moments in this past season and there was plenty of emotion wrapped up in their performances when the time is right. Now, fans have the chance to actually call one of them and hear their distinctive voice over the phone, at least in a recorded message that is very on-brand for the show as a whole.
According to Collider and the Twitter handle @horror4kids, Stranger Things fans had seen a phone number posted on the van during the show for Surfer Boy Pizza, the establishment and chain that Argyle works for in California. During the events of the show, we do get a chance to hear Argyle answering the phone for the place, giving his preplanned run down of what to expect when ordering from Surfer Boy. The number for the joint is 805-45-PIZZA and apparently if one is to dial this and get through, they get Argyle’s recorded voice on the other line. According to Collider, the message goes like this:
“Surfer Boy Pizza, this is Argyle speaking. We make everything fresh here at Surfer Boy, except for our pineapple, which comes from a can, but I still recommend slapping some juicy pineapple on.”
Because this is Stranger Things and the Duffer Brothers have a keen sense of what characters will work within the dynamic of the show, adding Argyle and Eddie to the groups this season were just total wins all the way around. Each of their (very different) demeanors worked perfectly in the groups they joined with Argyle bringing a laid-back sense of stoner calm. Sure, he had a couple of freakouts, but they were all warranted. In general, the dude’s ability to roll with the punches, give some weed-induced stoner wisdom, offer plenty of laughs and just give the group a totally different vibe was just the right ingredient for this season of the series.
And on the whole, Stranger Things Season 4 appears to have been a major win for Netflix all around. Critics were on board for this run of stories with the season scoring 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. For the most part, despite some splitting of the season issues for subscribers numbers, and differing episode times, the whole thing paid off in a number of different ways. And fans were definitely here for it. The show became the second Netflix offering to top more than a billion hours watched on the platform, joining just Squid Game in that elite group.
We should be seeing Stranger Things Season 5 in a more timely fashion than the delay between the third and fourth season. Hopefully, we are able to get just a little bit more of Argyle.
