Marvel has been continuously looking for someone to step into the role of Wolverine for the MCU. One of the most interesting candidates happens to be Taron Egerton, who we reported had recently met with Marvel to discuss an MCU role, many believing it to be that of the most popular X-Men. However, a new actor is now campaigning for his shot at portraying Wolverine, Jon McLaren. If his name doesn’t immediately jump out at you, he was the voice of Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. You can see his bid below:

If we are being honest, McLaren is fantastic as Star-Lord, however, fans might not see the connection made between the voice acting on a video game versus a full-fledged live-action role in the MCU. Also, we think he might want to stay put in the video game world, as there is likely to be a sequel for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and we certainly want him involved in that. Still, he is a great actor and brought a lot of charm to Star-Lord in the video game. Jon McLaren as Wolverine would not be a bad choice. His above pitch does include three checked boxes that everyone would agree with. Familiarity with Marvel, being from Canada (Logan is too), and ready to fight.

Marvel has likely been scouring the world looking for someone to step into the role of Wolverine. Someone that could make people be ok with Hugh Jackman staying retired. That has likely been hard to do, as Jackman was perfect in the role. However, there has been no mention that the MCU has made any sort of headway in finding anyone. Now Jon McLaren has openly put in his pitch to play Wolverine. You can’t blame the guy for trying. Sometimes if you want a job badly enough, you bug the employers to let them know that you are the right person for the job. Another interesting note is that Insomniac is working on a Wolverine video game, which McLaren could theoretically try out for as well. If he got the voice acting role, maybe that could lead to him transitioning to the big screen.

The first instance of mutants in the MCU officially took place in Doctor Strange 2, as Professor Xavier appeared as the leader of The Illuminati. That could mean that the MCU will be bringing in their version of the X-Men. One of the biggest and best ways to do so would be to bring in Wolverine, which Jon McLaren is trying to portray, among many others we would assume. It will be interesting who is going to land the role.

Jon McLaren wants to be Wolverine, and he has already been Star-Lord, so why not keep him in the Marvel family? Bringing in the X-Men is going to be one of the biggest aspects of the MCU, and Marvel will need to find the right people to portray some of the biggest and most popular comic book heroes. We can’t wait to see who they choose.
