Exclusive: Jason Momoa In Talks To Join Marvel
Word from our trusted and proven sources is that Jason Momoa is being pursued for a Marvel role and we have a guess as to whom.

Jason Momoa became the closest thing that the DCEU has to a sure thing when 2018’s Aquaman unexpectedly grossed nearly $1.5 billion dollars at the box office. That is the single highest-grossing DCEU film so far, which is especially impressive when you consider that Arthur Curry aka Aquaman had been a figure of pop culture ridicule for years. As such, Momoa is in a pretty good negotiating position for pretty much any mega-franchise you can think of and seems to be going for all of them. According to word from our trusted and proven sources, Jason Momoa is currently in talks to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
We do not currently yet know what role Jason Momoa may be up for in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As usual, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is playing his cards pretty close to his chest, but we do have a slate of announced projects that Jason Momoa could fit into for Marvel. There have been persistent rumors that the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will introduce one of Marvel Comics’ oldest characters, Namor the Sub-Mariner, as a potential Atlantean rival to Wakandan power. But they would not do something as on the nose as to cast the Jason Momoa, DCEU’s Aquaman, for his Marvel equivalent, right? At least, probably not.
On the other hand, one of the most anticipated upcoming MCU projects is the mysterious new Fantastic Four movie. Since the project was first announced in 2019, there has been very little concrete news of casting or story. While a certain actor-turned-director-turned-action star popped up recently as a certain white-templed father figure superhero (we mean John Krasinski’s appearance as Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, to be clear), the other three of the four are unaccounted for. Might we speculate… Jason Momoa as Marvel’s Ben Grimm aka The Thing?
According to Jason Momoa, he already turned down a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe because he did not want to be slathered in makeup and basically be depicted as a ripped bod. While he passed on Guardians of the Galaxy’s Drax (which was then adroitly cast with Dave Bautista), that was a while ago. Jason might be ready to reconsider a role in Marvel that involves some makeup.
Or more likely, some CGI to turn him into an orange rock monster. The Thing has traditionally served as the muscle of the Fantastic Four, which would fit Jason Momoa’s famously jacked figure. The character is also known for his mix of sardonic humor and brooding, depressive anger, which is something Momoa has already demonstrated his aptitude with as Aquaman.
Of course, even if Jason Momoa does not enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe in some capacity, he is doing fine. Aside from his main DCEU gig as Aquaman, he will be starring as the villain of the upcoming Fast and Furious sequel, and there is a solid chance that he may reappear in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune 2 despite Duncan Idaho’s death. If Jason Momoa does indeed finally come aboard Marvel, we think he could be pretty perfect for some clobberin’ time.
