Exclusive: Rachel Zegler Cast As Lead Character In Hunger Games Prequel
Rachel Zegler will lead the Hunger Games prequel, as she has been cast as the female lead in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
This Giant Freak Robot exclusive scoop was confirmed, and Rachel Zegler starred in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes as Lucy Gray Baird.
Rachel Zegler has certainly exploded onto the show business scene. The young actress starred in West Side Story as Maria and was critically acclaimed for her performance. Since then, she has garnered more roles, including landing the titular role of Snow White. She will be the lead in the live-action reboot of that classic Disney film. That is not all, as we are happy to report through our trusted and proven source that Rachel Zegler will lead the Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Rachel Zegler cast in Hunger Games will effectively restart the hit franchise once again. The actress will take on the female lead for The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which is likely to spawn another series of films. Although her part is not confirmed, she is likely to be playing the role of Lucy Gray. Gray was a huge part of the 10th Hunger Games, and as such, she is on the same level that Jennifer Lawrence was as Katniss Everdeen. They were both the female tributes from District 12. Gray forms a strong bond with the young Coriolanus Snow, who is 18 years old at the time of the prequel story. Most fans will know the man as the tyrannical President of Panem from the original films, played by Donald Sutherland. Another thing of note is that Zegler is a fan of the series, as she has tweeted about her love for the films. You can see this Tweet below:
This tweet is from 2019, and nearly four years later, Rachel Zegler is now in Hunger Games. It is not often that people get to realize some full-circle moments in their careers, but this has got to feel surreal for the woman. She discussed her love for the cast of the original films, and now she will be mimicking Jennifer Lawrence. Well, not mimicking, but both characters are certainly in a similar situation as being the tribute from District 12.
Rachel Zegler leading Hunger Games makes a ton of sense, as she proved herself to be quite a lead actress. Her time as Maria led to a Golden Globe win for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy. She also won Best Actress by the National Board of Review. She is set to appear alongside Gal Gadot in Snow White, and she has been cast in a “secret” role for the new Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Her first film was West Side Story, and since then, she has achieved landing roles in three other blockbuster films. She is certainly up to the task of being a huge star.
Not much else is known about the prequel, apart from Rachel Zegler being the lead in Hunger Games. However, with this first announcement, we are likely to see many more coming down the pipeline. Now we need to see who is going to be cast as the much younger Coriolanus Snow. Zegler is a very dynamic actress, so there needs to be someone just as dynamic to take on the role of Snow. Keep your eyes peeled for more announcements in the coming months.
