Brie Larson has been doing mostly movie roles instead of TV.

You may know Brie Larson as an Oscar winner and the actress that suits up as Captain Marvel, but she’s been in Hollywood since she was just a kid. One of her more notable child acting roles was on the short-lived sitcom Raising Dad, which starred the beloved late actor Bob Saget as Matt Stewart. Check out a clip of Brie Larson as Emily Stewart, his youngest daughter:
In the clip, we see Brie Larson jumping on the bed with a young Jeremy Sumpter and going through her sister’s diary. After reading some choice excerpts, her older sister Sarah catches her in the act. You may notice that Sarah is played by another familiar Marvel face – Kat Dennings. When they were on Raising Dad together, the two probably wouldn’t realize that they would go on to feature in one of the biggest film franchises in history. While their Marvel characters have yet to interact, there’s always the chance that we could get a Raising Dad reunion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Kat Dennings actually voiced the animated version of her MCU character in an episode of What If…? that featured an animated version of Captain Marvel. However, Captain Marvel was voiced by Alexandra Daniels, so we just missed the possible crossover.
Since leaving Raising Dad, Brie Larson has been doing mostly movie roles instead of TV. She did have a notable role in United States of Tara, but most of her TV roles have just been short guest spots. That will be changing very soon, as Larson will be starring in a new TV series called Lessons in Chemistry for Apple TV. She’ll be playing a chemist named Elizabeth Zotts who finds herself without a job, pregnant, and alone in the 1960s. Of course, she’ll also be returning as Captain Marvel soon enough, with The Marvels set to release in 2023. The Marvels will also feature Samuel L. Jackson, Iman Vellani, Teyonah Parris, Zawe Ashton, and Park Seo-joon. The movie will be directed by Nia DaCosta.
Though Kat Dennings’ Marvel role wasn’t quite as big as Brie Larson’s, she’s been keeping plenty busy. Her Marvel character even had a prominent role in the recent WandaVision, which continues to have long-term consequences for the MCU story as a whole. Dennings’ most recent appearance was in the second season of the Hulu series Dollface, which also stars Brenda Song, Shay Mitchell, Esther Povitsky, Beth Grant, Malin Akerman, Lilly Singh, and more. While it’s unclear when we’ll see her next in the MCU, she did recently voice a DC character in The Sandman podcast series, as she played Death. Dennings first made her MCU appearance in Thor and also appeared in Thor: The Dark World.
While Raising Dad only ran for one season, the cast would go on to do better things. It’s a bit sad to watch the show now with the beloved Bob Saget’s recent passing, but it’s interesting to see the early roles of Brie Larson and Kat Dennings.
