Hilary Duff, 34, star of Lizzie McGuire and How I Met Your Father recently posed nude for the cover of Women’s Health. The image was to promote the fitness magazine’s May/June ‘Body Issue.’ Now, Duff is revealing why she chose to pose for the cover, as reported by JustJared.

JustJared reports on Hilary Duff’s thought-provoking musings on body positivity via her sit down with Women’s Health for the aforementioned ‘Body Issue.’ Hilary Duff told the magazine that the decision to pose for the issue came out of a place of body positivity; “I’m proud of my body. I’m proud that it’s produced three children for me. I’ve gotten to a place of being peaceful with the changes my body has gone through. I also want people to know a makeup artist was there putting glow all over my body and someone put me in the most flattering position.” Modest as Hilary Duff is, not only is the cover photo a demonstration of the actress’s beauty, but her comments are also demonstrative of a strong mindset, ready to promote a positive message. In Hilary Duff’s interview, the actress touched base on a number of pivotal moments that have come recently in her career. One such moment was the cancellation of the Lizzie McGuire reboot. The reboot was intended to be part of Disney Plus’ slate and would see what McGuire was up to now that she is in her thirties. However, despite filming two episodes, the project was scrapped. At the time ‘behind the scenes issues’ were noted for the cancellation, but Duff has a clearer picture of why the reboot was abandoned; “She had to be 30 years old doing 30-year-old things. She didn’t need to be doing bong rips and having one-night stands all the time, but it had to be authentic. I think they got spooked.”

Despite Hilary Duff not getting to continue the Lizzie McGuire reprisal, the actress was able to score another project that perhaps was more suited to her intention of portraying what the world is like for 30 somethings. Duff was cast as the lead of How I Met Your Father, the spin-off of the hugely popular How I Met Your Mother. As the name suggests, the show follows the same premise as its predecessor, but with the roles reversed. The show came about for Duff as a result of Lizzie McGuire being stripped from her schedule and how the role fits those Duff has portrayed before; “It would be dumb of me to not know that I have a sweet spot playing that relatable girl,” the actress told Women’s Health.

As well as Hilary Duff’s interview with Women’s Health covering body positivity and her journey from Lizzie McGuire to How I Met Your Father, Duff, mother of three, talked of teenage struggles with her body image and the intense journey she took in preparation for her revealing cover shoot. As a teenager in the spotlight, Duff revealed that the pressures of ‘looking like an actress’ led to an eating disorder at the tender age of eighteen. However, as well as maintaining a stringent routine to be in peak shape for the cover shoot, Duff also is a positive promoter of going to therapy, a route she encourages her children to take, should they feel the need. Here lies the true power behind Hilary Duff’s body confidence, and mental positivity, not only does the actress feel; “powerful and talented and smart,” but, Duff also states how important it is to focus on the mental; “I want to work on the inside. That’s the most important part of the system.”

Hilary Duff’s career is sparkling and is showing no signs of stopping, with reboots being cancelled, Duff found a spin-off ready and waiting. With a stringent physical routine, Duff found the importance of mental strength and a positive mindset. Of course, the results are stunning, there’s no questioning Duff’s beauty, but her posing for Women’s Health is also a sign of strength and confidence.
