A new romantic comedy is being put together that might have just about the best cast for the genre. The high-level talent that has been put together for a new film called Maybe I Do include Susan Sarandon, Diane Keaton, Richard Gere, William H. Macy, Emma Roberts, and Luke Brace. That is a ton of talent that will come together for a romantic comedy. Usually, the genre has a pair of famous leads with some sidekick type on the side, but this is all A-list stars.
Maybe I Do is a multi-generational romantic comedy that will undoubtedly have themes of love, but with a bit of a twist when it comes to the nature of marriage. When Michelle (Emma Roberts) and Allen (Luke Bracey) reach a more serious level of their relationship, they bring their parents in to meet one another. Susan Sarandon is likely the mother of one of the two. This is the tradition when it comes to couples who are getting ready to spend the rest of their lives with one another. However, it seems that the parents all know one another and begin to educate their own children about the sanctity or foolishness of married life. From what this synopsis is revealing, it could mean that both Michelle and Allen’s parents may have dated one another at some point in the past and it soured them all on that person or the idea of marriage. This is just speculation, but it sure sounds like this could be the potential plot of this film.
Michael Jacobs is set to direct Maybe I Do, and it will be his directorial debut. The film was based entirely on a script that was written by Jacobs. Jacobs is known for co-creating many beloved sitcoms that include Charlies in Charge, Dinosaurs, My Two Dads, Boy Meets World, and Girl Meets World. He certainly has a resume that will add more confidence in his first full-length feature outing. Quite honestly, he couldn’t have landed a better cast for his directorial debut. Susan Sarandon is a big deal all by herself, but Diane Keaton, Richard Gere, and William H. Macy? That is a huge cast. Diane Keaton is also set to be an executive producer on the film.
Maybe I Do has only but announced with the corresponding cast, so it is likely a bit off in terms of when the film will premiere. Given casting announcements have been made, it stands to reason that the film will enter the pre-production stages soon. This could also mean that filming will start to stake place within the next couple of months. However, this could also mean that we may not see this film until next year. Susan Sarandon is certainly going to be busy, as she has been cast as the main villain in the DC spinoff film, Blue Beetle. It’s high time the woman lands herself in a superhero film of some sort.
Maybe I Do will have an all-star cast that will surely work well in this ensemble romantic comedy. We look forward to seeing all this high-level talent together. Michael Jacobs has clearly written a script that has excited studios enough to be purchased and has such huge names attached to it. Look for more updates on this film and Susan Sarandon appearing in Blue Beetle in the near future.
