If you’re ready to take on some new adventures, wrestle with aliens, and soar across the cosmos, look no further. Paramount+ has just released their trailer for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and boy does it look promising. Acting as a spin off for the initial major flop, Star Trek: Discovery, the series will bring fans back on board the U.S.S. Enterprise and dive into stories that could have been. Fans of characters from Star Trek: The Original Series will be delighted to hear more of the lore connected to their favorite OG space heroes while under the watchful eye of Captain Pike (Anson Mount).

The trailer sees the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise decked out in their iconic gear and taking on new objectives. With a voiceover from Anson Mount as the cheeky Captain Pike, fans are transported to faraway worlds and even the surface of a comet. Chasing down aliens to discover all the wonders the galaxy has to offer, it’s not long before we see the crew getting into a bit of trouble. Romances abound as viewers see Ethan Peck’s Spock getting logical and smoochy with another character. And who is that he’s kissing? No one seems to know. Yet. Which makes this a great sell for the new show.

Meanwhile, Anson Mount’s Captain Pike wastes no time and can be spotted shirtless in bed entertaining some company. High-action moments litter the trailer with things from the more obvious laser battles to some killer sword-fighting sequences.

On a mission to seek answers and views into other worlds, the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise are sure to ruffle some feathers along the way. Standing together as a team has never been a tough job for them, and, judging by the rousing speeches that can be heard throughout the teaser, that certainly won’t be their downfall. While, over the years, slews of reincarnations and spin offs based on Star Trek: The Original Series have taken place, with Anson Mount in the Captain’s Chair as Captain Pike, Strange New Worlds could be the most successful yet. Check out the trailer above and tune into Paramount+ on May 5 to catch the premiere of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

While not necessary viewing for Strange New Worlds, it’s a great show to catch up on if you’re waiting for Anson Mount’s new series. Hoping to take over living rooms everywhere, Star Trek: Discovery premiered its first season on CBS in 2017 before later shuffling things around and finding it a better home on its then newly launched streaming platform. The change came after premiere ratings poured in with 1.7 million viewers landing it at a 0.2 rating. Now safely flying high on Paramount+, Discovery just landed its fourth season with a finale in mid-March.

While Discovery introduced Anson Mount’s Captain Pike, Rebecca Romijn’s Una Chin-Riley, and Ethan Peck’s Spock to audiences during its second season, the show would see the crews of the U.S.S. Discovery and the U.S.S. Enterprise going their separate ways and onto other missions by the end of the season. Strange New Worlds will focus on these characters and more from the original franchise in the years before the events of The Original Series. Other characters, both new and old, included in Paramount+’s newest jaunt into the space blasting universe are Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), Dr. M’Benga (Babs Olusanmokun), Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush), Lt. Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia), Hemmer (Bruce Horak), and La’an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong).
