Star Wars Leading Man Rushed To Emergency Surgery

For over a decade, voice actor Matt Lanter has been an irreplaceable part of Star Wars. Starting with 2008’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated film, Lanter has been the voice of the heroic but doomed Anakin Skywalker. He reprised the role for the series that spun out of the movie as well as in other animated projects. Now fans and co-stars are rallying around the actor in the wake of the news that he was recently underwent emergency surgery.
As reported by CBR, while the Star Wars actor was brought to the hospital last week, most of the rest of the world didn’t find out about it until the last couple of days.. On Monday, Matt Lanter’s wife Angela posted a picture of her hand clasped in her husband’s simultaneously to her Instagram and her husband’s. You can see the wristbands around Matt’s wrist identifying him as a patient. His wife’s first post doesn’t provide a lot of specifics, but mentions the emergency surgery, says Lanter has “been through the ringer,” and warns of an “uphill battle” yet to come. Angela Lanter posted an update late Monday night, offering more of the particulars to her husband’s concerned friends, family, and Star Wars fans. Accompanied by a picture off Matt Lanter in the hospital, Angela Lanter wrote that her husband suffered “intense abdominal pain” last Tuesday. Two days later he was diagnosed with a blockage in his small intestine, necessitating surgery. Angela Lanter said that her husband had experienced “some setbacks after surgery” but seemed to be doing better. You can see that post below.
Among those offering their support is Matt Lanter’s own padawan Ashley Eckstein, who voiced Ahsoka Tano in The Clone Wars and other projects. Yesterday Eckstein posted a photo of her with Lanter, captioning it with the news. The Star Wars actor expressed frustration, writing, “He’s on his way to recovery, but I’ve felt so helpless, wishing I could do more to help him and his amazing wife.” She ended the message asking her followers to join her “in sending love, the Force and prayers for Matt and his family.” You can see that post below.
While he’s best known for his voice work when it comes to Star Wars, Lanter finally got to make his live-action Star Wars debut in 2019 with the first season of The Mandalorian. In “Chapter 6: The Prisoner,” Lanter played the lone New Republic soldier on the prison ship who is taken hostage and ultimately killed by Din Djarin’s (Pedro Pascal) treacherous companions. Some of his other live-action roles include his turn as one of the leads of the acclaimed but short-lived NBC sci-fi series Timeless, and as George Hutchence aka Skyfox in Netflix’s adaptation of Jupiter’s Legacy. Lanter’s upcoming projects include the drama Passing Through and the thriller 13 Steps.
