Ezra Miller Insulted Aquaman For A Ridiculously Long Time In Deleted Peacemaker Scene

If you’ve seen HBO Max’s Peacemaker, then you know the season 1 finale included some epic cameos. Ezra Miller dropped by as the Flash and Jason Momoa was there as Aquaman. While the cameo in the finished product is seconds long, according to Peacemaker writer/director James Gunn, it could’ve been much, much longer.
Speaking to Total Film, James Gunn said that in spite of what little we saw in the Peacemaker season 1 finale — “It’s Cow or Never” — there was a lot more the director shot. “I have tons of stuff I didn’t use,” Gunn said. “[Ezra Miller] went on – and I’m not kidding – for 16 minutes about Aquaman having sex with fish. It was really funny.”
The Justice League shows up too late to help John Cena’s Peacemaker and his freinds. Peacemaker — who, throughout the season, had occasionally made mention of Aquaman having sex with fish — berates the team for not showing up earlier and, as he’s walking past them, glares at the aquatic hero and yells, “Go f–k another fish, a–hole!” Momoa says he’s tired of the rumor, and Ezra Miller responds, “It’s not a rumor.”
To think that 16 minutes worth of presumably improvised jokes from Ezra Miller about Aquaman doing fishy things with fish was abbreviated to “It’s not a rumor,” feels practically criminal. We can only hope that just as the extended version of John Cena’s improvised rant from Peacemaker‘s fifth episode was eventually released, we could eventually see some more of Miller’s riffing on Aquaman’s deep sea love life.
Ironically, Ezra Miller has so far had more cameo roles as Barry Allen aka The Flash than he has starring roles. He appears in security footage for 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and later that year showed up just long enough to capture Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang in Suicide Squad. In early 2020 — in probably the best in a long list of cameos — Miller made an appearance as the Flash in the Arrow chapter of the CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. His only starring roles as Flash have been in 2017’s Justice League and the 2021 redo, Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
That’s going to change soon, but sadly not as soon as we all hoped. Earlier this month, the news emerged that most of Warner Bros’ tentpole 2022 films were having their release dates pushed back, including The Flash. The release of the first live-action movie for the speedster Ezra Miller hero was pushed back from November 4, 2o22 to June 23, 2023. Likewise, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was delayed until next year.
The delay has raised questions about the future of the DCEU. The Flash will star not only Ezra Miller as the eponymous speedster but two versions of Batman — Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton. The Keaton Batman will also star in the upcoming HBO Max film Bagirl. This, plus Affleck’s repeated assurances that he will not return to the role of Batman after The Flash, have led to speculation that Keaton will replace Affleck as the DCEU’s Batman. However, Batgirl — expected to stream on HBO Max this year — was not one of the films mentioned in the list of delays. So if the speculation is true that Keaton will be the DCEU’s new Batman after the events of The Flash, the viewers watching Batgirl will see him as Batman before being explained why.
