Oscar Isaac Wants Moon Knight To Meet A Specific Avenger
Oscar Isaac has gone on record saying he would love for Moon Knight to meet another Avenger. Could something be cooking there?
This article is more than 2 years old
The premiere of the Oscar Isaac-led Moon Knight is just around the corner, and it sounds like the star already has some ideas for his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a recent interview with Hits Radio, Isaac mentioned how he could see his character, Marc Spector, getting along with Bruce Banner/Hulk.
This tidbit from Oscar Isaac is especially interesting because Mark Ruffalo and Isaac were recently seen in the same location while Moon Knight was still filming. While that doesn’t necessarily guarantee we’ll get an appearance from the angriest Avenger, the possibility is certainly there. Ruffalo will already be popping up on another Disney+ series She-Hulk, so why not pull double-duty?
When a character makes their debut in the MCU, there is always the potential for crossovers with other more established folks. In fact, it’s incredibly rare that new heroes don’t eventually interact with others in the MCU. Even the previously separate Netflix shows bridged the gap when Matt Murdock made a brief cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In short, it definitely wouldn’t be a stretch if Bruce Banner crossed paths with Oscar Isaac on the show. As Isaac said, there’s potential for the two to make a connection. Isaac’s character suffers from disassociative identity disorder and will have several different personalities in the show. This is something that Bruce Banner is very familiar with, considering he also has an entirely separate entity that shares his mind and body. In Avengers: Endgame we saw Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner make peace with the Hulk personality, leading to Professor Hulk. Maybe Banner would have some tips for Marc Spector to manage his own conflicting personalities.
Though Moon Knight is a lesser-known character in the Marvel pantheon, he definitely has one of the more interesting backgrounds. The character is (supposedly) gifted abilities by the Egyptian god Khonshu. His unique power origin and mental health issues make him much more than the “Marvel’s Batman but in a white suit” that people initially assume him to be. Oscar Issac will be going up against a villain played by Ethan Hawke in the first season. Hawke plays a cult leader that is inspired by David Koresh of the infamous Waco cult. The show also stars F. Murray Abraham, Gaspard Ulliel, May Calamawy, and Lucy Thackeray.
Generally, when you get a star like Oscar Isaac to play your Marvel hero, you’re going to want him to be part of the bigger picture eventually. Moon Knight is actually the first Marvel Disney+ series that doesn’t star a pre-established character in one of the leading roles. It seems unlikely that Moon Knight won’t be popping up in other Marvel shows and films. In fact, Moon Knight has occasionally been on the Avengers roster in the comics, so there’s even precedence for him to show up in a future Avengers film if Kevin Feige and co. want to go that route.
Regardless of where Moon Knight will appear in the greater MCU, you can definitely get plenty of Oscar Isaac as the character when it premiers on Disney+ on March 30.
