the boys season 3

After an action packed, gore filled, and all around quirky and bizarre trailer for the upcoming third season of Prime Video’s The Boys, many fans of the series gleamed with excitement. One of the show’s more famous fans, Taika Waititi, took to Twitter to share his thrill, tweeting “Fokk yeeeeaaas” at the series’ Twitter account. A force to be reckoned with, The Boys took things into their own hands and posed the actor, writer, and director with a question we’ve all been wanting to know the answer to. In their post, they wrote “A trailer for a trailer, @taikawaititi? Where’s Thor: Love and Thunder?” You can see the tweet below.

Great question! With the film’s release date finally situated on July 8, the people deserve a peek at what they can expect from the next feature surrounding the God of Thunder. With The Boys Season 3 landing on June 3, it only makes sense for Waititi to unleash the anticipated teaser in the upcoming days. Fans have been waiting since 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok for a new installment in the Thor franchise and with all of the pandemic based pushbacks, they’ve needed to wait even longer. The new film is set to take audiences on another journey with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) who is now surrounded by members of The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Also included in the lineup will be Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Lady Sif (Jamie Alexander), and new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Christian Bale as the terrifying bad guy, Gorr the God Butcher. It’s also being rumored that the new film will see Thor passing off his beloved Mjölnir to returning character and love interest, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman).

Meanwhile, things are heating up for The Boys as we crawl closer to the show’s Season 3 debut. The series follows the story of the titular group of non-superheroes as they take on a morally corrupt, power hungry crew known as the “Supes” who are not only backed in popularity by civilians who are fooled by their good-doer facade, but also hold ties to a powerful corporation. The satirical story pulls its plot from the Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comics of the same name and sets out to show a sillier version of superhero tales made popular by DC and Marvel. The series quickly rose to popularity for its witty dialogue, intriguing and timely storylines, and A-list lineup of talent. Included in the Season 3 call sheet are Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Jensen Ackles, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Dominique McElligott, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, and Laurie Holden. The trailer showed us both crews as we’ve never seen them before with even more action, new powers, and the anticipated arrival of Soldier Boy (Ackles) and Crimson Countess (Holden).

Although Waititi may be a bit withholding with his precious trailer, it’s good to know we can count on The Boys to call him out on the deliverables. Hopefully someday soon, we’ll be feasting our eyes on the director’s latest creation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Until then, at least we have the new The Boys trailer to watch over and over again.
