Grogu otherwise known as Baby Yoda is set to get a massive upgrade when The Mandalorian returns for its third season. The upgrade is due to the events that took place in The Book of Boba Fett. During his training, Grogu was given a choice to remain with Luke Skywalker and learn the ways of the Jedi or to formally decline and return to the side of Din Djarin. Grogu chose the latter and returned to fight alongside his psuedo father. Now it seems that Grogu is going to be a full-on Mandalorian, and he is now being said to get his own Beskar armor via rumors posted online.

Baby Yoda taking on the honor of becoming a Mandalorian holds its ties back to the first season of The Mandalorian. When Grogu and Din took on the Mudhorn and defeated it, that was the insignia given to Mando on his Beskar by the Armorer. That also brought with it that Grogu and Din were now a clan of two. Now that Din and Grogu are back together, it would mean that he is meant to be a Mandalorian. There are rumors of his Beskar armor, but also we are likely to see the fan-favorite IG-11 return as well. The IG droid was the hunter droid tasked with bringing Grogu back to the Empire but was unceremoniously shot in the head. He then became a nurse droid via the work done by Kuiil. He went on to sacrifice himself to help Grogu, Din, Cara, and Greef escape the Empire. How and why his body has been resurrected after an explosion will likely be told in the new season of The Mandalorian. The IG-11 unit is rumored to be used as a mech suit by Grogu in The Mandalorian Season 3. We cannot wait to see that.

Baby Yoda instantly became one of the most beloved characters in all of Star Wars and the hope was that he was not going to disappear after The Mandalorian Season 2 ended. That was certainly the case considering he made the ultimate choice in The Book of Boba Fett. Now that he is set to becoming a Mandalorian alongside the tutelage of Din, it is going to be that much more exciting to see the little guy acting and behaving in a manner befitting a bounty hunter. He had better get his own small jetpack and long rifle. Then again, he is a force user, so maybe he can wield a lightsaber—perhaps he could use the Darksaber that is currently in the possession of Din.

Whatever happens, it is great to see that Baby Yoda will remain an integral part of The Mandalorian going forward. The Mandalorian Season 3 has not currently been announced by Disney+, but the rumor is that the new chapter will come out around December of this year. The first two seasons both had premieres in the fall, so it would make sense that the streaming platform would follow the same formula. We can’t wait to see where Din and Grogu go from here, and if those rumors are true, we truly can’t wait to see him in some Beskar armor.
