Keanu Reeves’ Batman Movie Just Got Delayed
While we are all patiently waiting to hear the sulty voice of Keanu Reeves as Batman, DC has announced the reshuffling and delays of many films.

For those of us who are waiting to hear the sultry deep voice of Keanu Reeves as Batman, you’ll need to wait a little bit longer. Today Warner Bros. announced that along with a few other titles including the Dwayne Johnson-led film, Black Adam, DC League of Super-Pets will also be pushed back from May 20 to July 29. In the animated film, the John Wick star is set to lend his vocal talents to the role of the caped crusader. The news comes just days after the release of a trailer for the new film.
The story surrounding the world of Gotham’s protector has been told countless times over the years. Whether it be live-action ventures or animated joints, it seems that actors from every corner have taken a turn behind the wheel of the Batmobile. Preceding Keanu Reeves in the role of the animated take on the hero has been a slew of actors including comedy legend, Will Arnett, whose voice can be heard in The Lego Movie, The Lego Batman Movie, and The Lego Movie 2. Before Arnett, Kevin Conroy took on the part in the four-season 90s run of The Batman Animated Series. Conroy would go on to solidify his voice as the Dark Knight being heard in several Batman-centric video games and animated films.
In DC League of Super-Pets, Keanu Reeves will be heard opposite John Krasinski’s Superman with Dwayne Johnson as Krypto the Superdog and Kevin Hart as Ace the Bat-Hound. The rest of the ensemble cast will be filled out with the voices of some of Hollywood’s top talent including Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, Marc Maron, Kate McKinnon, Thomas Middleditch, Ben Schwartz, and Jameela Jamil. The story will center around the heroic journey of a group of superpowered pets who, led by Superman’s dog, Krypto (Johnson), go on a journey to rescue the Justice League after they’ve been taken prisoner by Superman’s nemesis, Lex Luthor (Maron). The pet team is made up of Batman’s dog, Ace who has the powers of super strength and indestructibility, a pig named PB (Bayer) who can grow to enormous sizes in order to crush the competition, a turtle named Merton (Lyonne) who ditches her slow-paced lifestyle for a speed that rivals the Flash, and a squirrel named Chip (Luna) who will use his powers of electricity to get the gang out of their bind.
Following the massively successful opening weekend of The Batman, it’s looking like the cast behind DC League of Super-Pets is going to be in for a smash hit. Putting a family-friendly spin on the beloved Justice League characters, the feature will attract families full of Batman lovers. For parents that need to tell their children that The Batman is too adult to take them to, the ability to follow it up with promising them an outing for the animated flick will be a start to quelling the tears. While it’s hard to imagine John Krasinski stepping into the live-action role of Superman, we think Keanu Reeves would be a wonderful fit for a live-action iteration of Batman. Maybe this first step as the animated hero will be the kick-off he needs.
