Dwayne Johnson And John Cena Joining Forces In The DC Universe?
Are Black Adam and Peacemaker teaming up?
This article is more than 2 years old
Season 1 of John Cena’s Peacemaker just aired its finale on HBO Max recently and fans are loving it. Fortunately, it’s already been ordered for Season 2, which means rumors are running rampant. The finale already had some cameos from the greater DC Universe, and now fans are hoping that Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam could cross paths with Peacemaker in the future.
Obviously, fans don’t even know what Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is like yet, with his movie yet to hit theaters and us only getting a brief teaser so far. But with his and John Cena’s WWE connections, it’s going to be hard to resist pairing them up on the screen. They both got their start in the wrestling world and have gone on to be very successful actors on top of their incredible wrestling careers.
In a recent interview with People, John Cena himself even said how he’d love to work with Dwayne Johnson in the DC Cinematic Universe. When the interviewer mentioned the possibility, he said “I’ll say the same thing every time with possibilities in the sort of universe… it would be an honor and a privilege to be able to perform with him.” He also mentioned how it’s not really under his control, which is true. There are plenty of machinations going on behind the scenes. Dut who knows, maybe there’s already a Peacemaker and Black Adam crossover planned for the future? We’ll likely just have to wait and see.
But before that all happens, we’re going to see Dwayne Johnson make his debut this upcoming summer as the complicated anti-hero. Black Adam is a character who was bestowed powers by the Egyptian Gods. The movie will see him being released from his 5,000-year prison and meting out justice how he sees fit. Black Adam is a massively powerful character, with power levels comparable to Shazam. While Shazam draws his powers from heroes of Greek and Roman myth, Black Adam possesses the stamina of Shu, the speed of Horus, the strength of Amon, the wisdom of Zehuti, the power of Aten, and the courage of Mehen.
In addition to Dwayne Johnson, Black Adam also stars Sarah Shahi, Pierce Brosnan, Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, and Quintessa Swindell. Though Peacemaker isn’t in the mix, Black Adam will be going up against the Justice Society, which consists of Hawkman, Atom Smasher, Cyclone, and Dr. Fate. This will be the live-action debut of all of these beloved DC characters, so we’re getting a lot of new heroes at once. If Black Adam can face that many heroes on his own, he’ll definitely be a force to be reckoned with.
You can catch Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam when it hits theaters on July 29, 2022. You’ll also be able to see John Cena again in Season 2 of Peacemaker, which is presumably hitting HBO Max sometime in 2023. By the time Peacemaker is back on the small screen, Dwayne Johnson would have made his DCU debut, so the possibilities are definitely there. If you’re a fan of these two WWE superstars turned DC heroes, all you can do now is cross your fingers for a crossover.
