If there’s one thing that distinguishes Peacemaker from other superhero shows, it’s definitely the opening credits scene. Created as a way to ensure fans wouldn’t skip over the intro, it features the entire cast stoically performing a dance routine to Wig Wam’s “Do Ya Wanna Taste It”John Cena is seen front and center in full costume alongside his Project Butterfly teammates. Other folks who join in are the police officers following his case, his friend the hospital janitor, and his dad’s neighbor.

The sequence caught the attention of fans as soon as the first episode of Peacemaker dropped. Now, the choreography has been shared by the show’s creator James Gunn. In a post on social media, the director tweeted a 12-step storyboard image explaining how fans can perform the first 20 seconds of the dance moves from the show’s intro. The image’s owner later revealed herself as @kadusaurus, who describes herself as a visual designer and illustrator. While she didn’t reply to the director’s tweet, she created a new post acknowledging Gunn’s message. Check out both Peacemaker dance tweets below:

This isn’t the first time James Gunn has tweeted about Peacemaker’s iconic dance moves. In January he shared a behind-the-scenes look at the actors practicing the steps alongside choreographer Charissa Barton. Dubbed as the “Peacemaker groove,” Barton describes the arrangement as modern dance, combined with a little bit of street style. She was also inspired by the work of silent film-era actors like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton (via CBR).

Due to the show’s success, and the popularity of the opening credits scene, “Do Ya Wanna Taste It” topped the iTunes Rock chart during the show’s eight-episode run. Peacemaker is one of the newest additions to the DC Extended Universe and is described as a “douchey Captain America” who will do anything to achieve peace. Set after The Suicide Squad, the story delves into the origins of the character. John Cena stars as the anti-hero, along with Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick.

After the first season of Peacemaker premiered, James Gunn was unsure about the show’s future, saying he needed some rest after a busy few years. He did not formally agree to a second season until he had worked out story arcs for each character. HBO Max announced season two in early February, with Gunn set to direct and write every episode. Speaking to Deadline, he said the second season would explore the repercussions, good and bad, of everything that happened in season one.

Before Peacemaker’s second outing, Gunn’s next big project will see him team up with Marvel Studios for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Story details for the film remain a tightly guarded secret for now. But we do know that cast members Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, and Pom Klementieff are expected to return, along with MCU newcomer Will Poulter. The movie will hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
