Elon Musk Wants You To Play Steam While Driving His Tesla

People have always gone to great lengths to play video games. There have been technical difficulties along the way. Before mass-produced water-cooling for gaming hardware, people experimented with aquarium pumps and car radiators to cool their setup. Some even went as far as to use liquid nitrogen, and one programmer even installed Doom Eternal on his Samsung smart fridge, along with the wireless controller support. Experimentation fuels innovation and the Technoking of Tesla Elon Musk now wants to grant Tesla owners the opportunity to play Steam games in their cars.
According to ComicBook, Elon Musk revealed that he wants to make Steam games compatible with Tesla cars. This idea isn’t a novelty produced by the world’s favorite inventor and entrepreneur, but a reality, since Musk and the team at Tesla have already made various video games that are compatible with the operating system in their vehicles. However, the number of games playable via Tesla’s display dashboard is very limited, and it sounds like Musk wants the situation to change.
The news came via a recent Twitter conversation, in which Technoking was asked about the possibility of making Cyberpunk 2077, which recently got massive updates, work with some of its various vehicles. In his response, Elon Musk revealed that Tesla, as a whole, is looking onto ways and methods to make Steam games function with Tesla vehicles. Unfortunately, Musk didn’t disclose any timeframes regarding gaming in Tesla cars, so we don’t really know when to expect Counter-Strike on Tesla, but the company is conducting tests internally.
Although the idea of playing video games in a car sounds very far-fetched, let’s remember that high-definition LCDs inside vehicles were akin to science fiction some 10-15 years ago. So, gaming in a car via its built-in system might become widespread in the future. Elon Musk basically confirmed that his company is working on the concept, and considering the rise of electric cars on the streets and Tesla’s prominence on the electric car market, our descendants might play Grand Theft Auto 7 on their way to school some 20 years from now. We specifically listed the 7th installment in that particular franchise due to exorbitantly long development periods.
Admittedly, playing video games on a display dashboard isn’t practical for today’s drivers, who have to pay attention to the road; we’d like to point out that this could very well work with Tesla cars. Tesla vehicles come standard with advanced hardware capable of providing full self-driving capabilities. These are further improved through regular updates from Tesla, improving the Autopilot functionality over time, which could help pave the way to vehicular gaming in the future. Imagine being asked about the specifications of your gaming setup and answering with: “It’s a Tesla.” Elon Musk probably already imagined it.
In fact, some Tesla vehicles already have the necessary computing power to run AAA titles, and Elon Musk indeed demoed Cyberpunk 2077 on a new Model S vehicle. However, he stated that there never was a car with state-of-the-art infotainment, where Teslas are now running entertainment content at a level of a PlayStation 5. So, playing video games in a Tesla isn’t a matter of technical specifications; it has more to do with compatibility.
