John Cena Cast As A Big-Shot Lawyer In Fan-Favorite Franchise
John Cena is about to join a fan-favorite franchise but this role will be considerably different than what we saw with him in Peacemaker

It is really starting to seem like the guy is everywhere these days. Everybody’s favorite Peacemaker, John Cena is set to star in Coyote vs. Acme for Warner Bros. The news was broken by The Hollywood Reporter. The feature is set to be part animation, part live-action. Directed by Dave Green, it will center on the iconic Looney Tunes character, Wile E. Coyote.
For Dave Green, this is his first helming gig since Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows in 2016 and Earth to Echo in 2014. The most recent draft of the screenplay has been written by Screenwriter Samy Burch, whose previous work includes short films as opposed to major features. Overlooking the whole piece for Warner Bros are Chris DeFaria and James Gunn, who are on board as producers. This marks yet another collaboration for John Cena and Gunn, the pair have previously worked together to bring the character of Peacemaker to life in both The Suicide Squad and the HBO Max hit Peacemaker.
Samy Burch’s screenplay is based on a comic article written for The New Yorker by Ian Frazier that shares the name of this upcoming John Cena feature, Coyote Vs. Acme. The title character of the Wile E. Coyote features regularly in the Looney Tunes universe seeking to destroy his arch-nemesis the Road Runner. To destroy his fast-feathered fiend, Wile E. Coyote enlists the use of an arsenal of weapons from the Acme Corporation, often to hilarious and disastrous effect. Frazier’s New Yorker article is a satirical send-up of this, in which Coyote takes Acme to court to sue them for damages and several other charges concerning his failed pursuits of Road Runner.
In the upcoming feature adaptation of Coyote Vs. Acme, the focus will be on a human attorney who’s on a downward turn. The attorney takes on Coyote’s case against Acme before it comes to light that the boss of his former firm is working for Acme. Enter John Cena. The legendary WWE wrestler and Hollywood megastar will be taking on the role of the former boss, who undoubtedly will become the villain of the piece. Production is set to get underway in New Mexico in late March.
This news is just another item to place on John Cena’s ever-growing acting resume. The wrestler, turned actor has had some impressive turns in comedies such as Blockers and has broken into massive Hollywood franchises with the likes of his turn in the ninth installment in the universe of The Fast and the Furious.
Without question, however, Cena’s most impressive work to date has been his portrayal of Christopher Smith, a.k.a. Peacemaker. The HBO Max series of Peacemaker, written and directed by James Gunn followed the events of The Suicide Squad and has been such a hit for the streamer that a second season has been confirmed. John Cena will be returning to the title role and James Gunn will return to write and direct the episodes. It is clear that Warner Bros like what they see in Cena, and his inclusion in this latest adaptation from the iconic world of Looney Tunes, is further evidence of their faith in the star.
