Instead, actor Danny DeVito seems to be a new top pick to play the intimidating character. With Danny DeVito’s long career in Hollywood, obviously the next step in his career is to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The obsession with DeVito playing Wolverine isn’t anything new. In fact, fans have been in support of the actor securing the role for a good couple of years now. According to Looper, fans had even started a petition to get DeVito cast as Wolverine back in 2019. Out of all the actors in the entertainment industry, why is DeVito such a popular pick? Some reasons are not too serious, while some are due to DeVito fitting the true likeness to the character from the Marvel comics.
The actor has been a source of entertainment for years, having starred in the hit series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Taxi, and the classic film, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Danny DeVito has a wide range of acting under his belt, which means he could easily become the character Wolverine. He would bring such strength and uniqueness to the anti-hero. However, if by an amazing chance, DeVito is cast in the MCU, it wouldn’t be his first time working alongside superheroes and villains. DeVito was cast as Penguin in the 1992 film Batman Returns, which also starred Michael Keaton as Batman and Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman.
