Call of Duty: Warzone is one of the most popular battle royale games out there, so it can be frustrating for players when the game is experiencing issues. Apparently, the developers of the game are feeling those frustrations too. As first reported by CharlieIntel, in a recent meeting between developers of the game and a set of content creators and influencers, the devs admitted that the game was in a bad state and that they weren’t happy with the status of things.
While it’s refreshing for the Call of Duty: Warzone devs to admit their mistakes instead of deflecting, players are still going to be more concerned about things getting back to the way they should be. The bugs and issues the game is currently facing come in the wake of the release of Warzone’s latest season. The update introduced a new map set in the South Pacific, giving players something a little more varied than the Verdansk map they’ve become accustomed to. While players were likely excited about the new tropical location, the issues the game is causing definitely make it not worth the trouble.
The Call of Duty: Warzone bugs aren’t just a nuisance, they’re downright game-breaking. Glitches have caused players to fall through the map and many have had to hard reset their PC or console to get back in the game. Other bugs include choppy textures and pop-in, voice chat issues, and much more. Console players also are missing the field of view slider feature. In short, the release of the second season has been a total mess and players are going to want a remedy sooner or later.
Likely, the Call of Duty: Warzone troubles are due in part to the team trying to integrate elements from Call of Duty Vanguard and Black Ops Cold War into the game, pushing the tech too hard and making it difficult for devs to keep the game under control. The Quality Assurance team at Raven Software also had a recent walkout in the wake of layoffs. Obviously, the lack of a full QA team is going to cause issues for the release as well. Regardless of the issues, the dev team also reportedly promised to fix the current state of the game during the meeting. So, hopefully, players will have the game in a more playable state again. The free-to-play battle royale certainly has a huge number of fans, so they’ll likely flock back to join the fray once that happens.
Activision also announced recently that there is also a new Call of Duty: Warzone in development, along with a new Modern Warfare game developed by Infinity Ward. The game is supposedly going to be released in 2023, so players will have a new and hopefully less glitchy Warzone to play. In the meantime, a year is a long time for a game to be in a sorry state, so the devs will likely be keeping that promise to get the game fixed up. All players can do at this point is wait and see.
