Henry Cavill Reveals The Changes He Snuck Into The Witcher Season 2
Henry Cavill really embodies Geralt of Rivia and he even added some little tidbits of his own to this most recent season of The Witcher.

Is there anyone more enthusiastic about being an actor than Henry Cavill? In basically any interview the British actor has ever done, he has reveled in getting to bring iconic characters to life. Heck this guy has done Superman, Sherlock Holmes, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’s Napoleon Solo, and his earliest role, Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk, in Showtime’s The Tudors. Of course, Henry Cavill might be a little more famous these days for playing Geralt of Rivia on Netflix’s The Witcher, one of the most popular streaming shows in the world. And since Henry Cavill is such a The Witcher fan himself, apparently he managed to sneak a little personal fan service in Season 2.
In a recent Polish interview (per Comicbook.com), Henry Cavill revealed that during the filming of The Witcher Season 2, he decided to sneak in a little dialogue from the original Witcher books by Andrzej Sapkowski on the fly. Check out what Henry Cavill had to say about adding some of that source material to the series:
“There is a fragment right at the beginning of Blood of Elves where Geralt loses consciousness on Sodden Hill. Geralt experiences a vision at the moment and talks to Death. Then, beautiful words are uttered about crossing the meadow and the fog…There was no such scene in the series, and these words captivated me with their poetry, they were so wonderfully ‘Sapkowski’ that I wanted them to be spoken by my Geralt…So I just did it, said the words in front of the camera, and was ready to face the consequences.”
It’s hard to imagine what consequences the widely beloved star of the Netflix series could face that couldn’t be fixed in editing or with another take. The bit definitely shows the man’s dedication to being maybe the world’s least stereotypical nerd. Still, it is a good example of how Henry Cavill really puts his money where his mouth is about his dedication and appreciation of the many, many franchises that he has managed to be a part of so far.
Henry Cavill has been open about his love for not just The Witcher series of games that helped inspire the series, and his devotion to venerable tabletop Warhammer 40,000 has apparently kept him busy in quarantine. And while he seems overjoyed to have achieved the kind of name recognition from fans, he has also been pretty clear that he has his limits: despite that one song, don’t throw coins at Henry Cavill (per The Mary Sue.)
But in any case, it seems unlikely that Henry Cavill will have much spare time in the future. It has been confirmed that a new Highlander project starring him and directed by John Wick co-director Chad Stahelski has begun filming for Lionsgate. And Henry Cavill has been apparently trying to horn his way into at least a cameo in the long-delayed The Flash movie. That would be along with a returning Michael Keaton as Batman but not a returning Ray Fisher as Cyborg, That’s not even counting his upcoming Matthew Vaughn ensemble spy film Argylle and returning for Netflix’s inevitable Enola Holmes 2 with Millie Bobbie Brown.
The Witcher and Henry Cavill have proved to be an enormous draw for streaming giant Netflix, with the original series bringing in some of their highest debut numbers for an original series ever. And surely, with enthusiasm for Season 2 hitting a peak, they’re not worried about getting on his case about slipping a little bit of Polish poetry in an episode or two.
