Will Pedro Pascal make an appearance in the upcoming Star Wars miniseries The Book of Boba Fett? The eponymous clone helped Pascal’s Din Djarin out in The Mandalorian when he needed to get Grogu back from the Imperial forces of Moff Gideon after all. Why wouldn’t Mando help Boba Fett out if he asked?
The word from Temuera Morrison is a firm “I can’t say anything.” That’s what the Boba Fett actor told Total Film (via ComicBook) to the question of Pedro Pascal’s appearance, reportedly while sporting a big grin. Morrison continued, “But we have some wonderful, colourful things to look forward to. I don’t want to say too much about it because we’re all going to go on this journey together. And every little bit of information is pretty precious now.” Indeed, with The Book of Boba Fett premiere fewer than two weeks away, relatively little has been revealed about what we can expect from the miniseries.
One tantalizing possibility that ComicBook mentions is the notion that, regardless of whether or not Pedro Pascal appears, Harrison Ford could reprise the role of Han Solo. The new miniseries takes place roughly five years after the events of Return of the Jedi when Solo is still very much alive and — from what we see in The Force Awakens — could still be connected to the same criminal underworld that The Book of Boba Fett promises to highlight. In fact, we’ve received a report from one of our trusted and proven sources that Ford recently finished filming a Star Wars project, though it wasn’t clear exactly what project he was working for.
ComicBook mentions some other characters like Pedro Pascal who might show up such as Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian, along with characters who have so far only been featured in animated projects like The Clone Wars. However, there is one character they failed to mention: Samuel L. Jackson’s Mace Windu. There have long been fan theories that Windu survived Anakin’s assault in Revenge of the Sith — a theory that Jackson himself had George Lucas confirm. And why not? If Darth Maul can survive literally being cut in half and falling down one of Star Wars‘ countless bottomless shafts in The Phantom Menace, why couldn’t Windu survive losing an arm and taking a rooftop trip across Coruscant?
If he survived, then he’d be in hiding like Yoda and Obi-Wan, but with both Darth Vader and Palpatine dead (only temporarily, in the case of the latter) the era of Pedro Pascal’s The Mandalorian and Temuera Morrison’s The Book of Boba Fett would be the perfect time for Windu to resurface. And according to one of the first actors to play Boba Fett, the clone would love to see Windu to resolve some things. The late Jeremy Bulloch — the first actor to play the live-action version of Boba Fett on film — told io9 in 2011 that he thought the first thing Fett did after escaping the sarlacc pit was that he “got hold of Mace Windu and destroyed him.”
Nor is it just the imagination of Bulloch that we can turn to. Samuel L. Jackson himself has hinted that he will be returning to the role a number of times. Back in June, Jackson posted a selfie on Instagram while wearing a darkly hilarious shirt referencing both Attack of the Clones and Pulp Fiction. Paraphrasing one of his lines in the latter film, the shirt reads “Check out the big brain on Jango!” The quote is attributed to Jango Fett, who Windu beheads in Attack of the Clones. But the most telling part of the post is his caption, in which the actor adds the hashtag “#maceaintdone.” You can see the post below.
We could find out as early as Wednesday, December 29 who — if any — actors from past Star Wars films or TV shows like Pedro Pascal show up in The Book of Boba Fett. The miniseries premieres that day on Disney+. Of course, someone could always show up in a later episode, all of which will air in 2022.
