Chris Noth, widely known for his role on Sex and the City as “Mr. Big” has now been accused of sexual assault. The allegations stem from two women claiming the actor sexually assaulted them back in 2004 and 2015. As a result of these new allegations, Peloton has pulled their ad showcasing Chris Noth on their machines as part of their “healthy living” campaign. The story on these allegations was posted by The Hollywood Reporter.
When asked about the allegations, a spokesperson for Peloton said, “We were unaware of these allegations when we featured Chris Noth in our response to HBO’s reboot. As we seek to learn more, we have stopped promoting this video and archived related social posts.” Noth also issued a response to the allegations in question, stating that they are “categorically false.” He continued with “the encounters were consensual. It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”
As per The Hollywood Reporter story about Chris Noth, the two women are going by Zoe and Lily to protect their identities. Zoe, who is now 40, told the story of meeting Chirs Noth when she was 22 years old and moved to LA. She worked in a high-profile firm that had many actors moving through, including Noth. He had apparently taken a liking to Zoe and began to speak with her at her desk, and leave voicemails. Noth had been 49 at the time of these “flirtatious” exchanges. Zoe’s boss had made a big deal of her being visited by him, stating that “Mr. Big’s leaving messages on your voicemail.” Apparently, at the height of the original Sex and the City show, it was a big deal for Noth to be speaking to anyone. Zoe met Noth sometime after at a hotel in LA which allegedly ended in a sexual assault.
Lily’s story is somewhat similar in that she was 25 when Chris Noth was 60. She had been working at a club in New York when Noth got her number and asked her out. Lily went and claimed that Noth had “forcefully” had sex with her. Lily’s friend, Alex, had claimed they should call the cops but, again according to THR reporting, Lily began to downplay the whole ordeal.
Chris Noth was a mainstay in the Sex and The City series. The new reboot of the series, And Just Like That…, saw Noth return as Mr. Big, but he has apparently been killed off. The new Peloton ad was poking fun at the actor’s dismissal by showing him being “revived” through a 45-minute workout on a Peloton machine. The ad was in partnership with Ryan Reynolds’s marketing company, Maximum Effort. The ad has now been pulled from Peloton, Ryan Reynolds., and Maximum Effort’s social media pages.
We are sure to get more information on these Chris Noth allegations in due time.
