Chris Pratt is already part of some major franchises and could have some more on the way. Such is the case with the actor who is about as sought-after as anyone in the industry. He’s turned into an action star of the highest order and also will take part in a time-honored video game adaptation as well. His projects are some of the biggest out there. And he could add another franchise to the list sooner than later. Giant Freakin Robot has the exclusive from our trusted and proven source that Paramount is eyeing Pratt to have a part in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 when that movie inevitably hits the big screen.
While details about the potential casting for Chris Pratt are light right now, we do know that he would be in consideration for a live-action role in the franchise. Considering some of the other big names they’ve added to this world in the first movie and the second one on the way, it makes sense that Paramount would be looking for more stars to put into the mix. Beyond the live-action part, it isn’t clear what role they have in mind. And it’s also not totally clear if he’d be teamed up with Sonic in some way, or maybe fall on the villain side of things.
If Chris Pratt were to join the cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, he’d be joining other notables who’ve already been part of the franchise. Of course, Ben Schwartz voices the blue speedster for the first two movies and he’s now joined James Marsden’s Tom and Tika Sumpter’s Maddie in Green Hills. The latter two are tasked with taking care of Sonic, though it doesn’t exactly work out that way. Plus, Jim Carrey is still here as Doctor Eggman Robotnik. He’s returning for the second movie, taking on much of the classic look from the original game. Finally, Idris Elba just joined the voice cast for the second movie and he’ll be voicing Knuckles the Echidna, a move that fans of the game were pumped to have happened.
Some of Chris Pratt joining the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 cast could hinge on the performance of this second movie. The first Sonic movie performed well at the box office, hitting around $320 million on its $90 million budget. Critics were mostly on board as well with the Rotten Tomatoes score sitting at 63%. The second movie appears to take shape even more around the original franchise of games and could be another hit for the studio. It’s set to release on April 8, 2022, with the first trailer dropping with much fanfare this past month.
As for Chris Pratt, this guy just keeps cranking out the hits and has a ton of movies in the pipeline right now. Jurassic World: Dominion is coming next June and could wrap up that franchise’s story arc. Plus, he’s set to appear in Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder where he’ll reprise his Star-Lord character. That will happen again when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 comes out as well. Plus, he’s also been cast to voice Mario when the iconic Nintendo character gets an animated movie in the near future. So this dude is about as busy as it gets. And he might just add Sonic to the list as well.
