To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the original cast is getting together for a reunion special on HBO Max. The cast includes the Golden Trio of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. Many more actors are showing up though. The new Return to Hogwarts poster is giving a first look at nine of those castmates.

Daniel Radcliffe stands front and center as Harry Potter. Starting from the left, he’s joined by the actors who played Fred and George Weasley, Draco Malfoy, Luna Lovegood, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Dean Thomas, Neville Longbottom, and Ginny Weasley. It makes sense that this first poster for Return to Hogwarts, which is focusing on the school element, is focusing on showing the actors who played the children in the movies. Now, they’re all grown up! The actors who were adults during the original movies will also be returning. A recent teaser trailer revealed a look at Robbie Coltrane, who played Rubeus Hagrid, and Mark Williams, who played Arthur Weasley. Marketing has also revealed that stars like Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, and Gary Oldman will take part in the Harry Potter reunion.

The author has faced many public controversies in recent years. Many allege that JK Rowling is transphobic. This seems to have changed the way the Wizarding World is being marketed. The recent trailer for Fantastic Beasts 3 put her name in a tiny font at the bottom of the screen, where it used to be shown sprawling across the page. This, combined with not including the author in the special, has led many to believe that the franchise is working to distance itself from the JK Rowling name.
While the author won’t be appearing, the marketing so far has many fans curious. Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Daniel Radcliffe can be seen in the Return to Hogwarts Harry Potter reunion special on January 1, 2022.
