Florence Pugh is seeing her career trajectory trending in at a meteoric pace right now. She’s appearing all over the place and has entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a key character, one critical now to a couple of different storylines. And with this kind of rise, it’s natural that she would be out and about, showing up at different premieres for other highly-anticipated movies. One of them came this week at the first showing of Don’t Look Up and Pugh took the opportunity to show it all off on the red carpet while giving a little thanks as well.
The picture of Florence Pugh came via her Instagram account and shows the actress with a signature style. While it might not be a traditional look for a big premiere, especially one as star-studded as Don’t Look Up which features some of the biggest names in the industry, but there’s Pugh anyway, giving credit to the designer Maison Valentino as well as Cartier. At the time of this writing, the post had more than one million likes on the social media platform, in line with how her career is tracking right now. Check it out:
Florence Pugh showing up at the Don’t Look Up premiere makes a lot of sense considering the kinds of roles she’s taking these days. Though she’s not in the movie, it’s one of the bigger flicks to hit streamers starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence as astronomers who are desperately trying to warn those in power that there is an extinction-level event about to happen to Earth. The rest of the cast is just as A-list with Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Tyler Perry, Timothee Chalet, Ron Pearlman, Ariana Grange, Himesh Patel, and many more as part of the cast. That’s as big an ensemble as you’ll ever get, all lining up to work with Adam McKay.
As for Florence Pugh’s own recent work, well that really ramped up this past year when she made a star turn in Black Widow, her introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She played Yelena Belova the sister of Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff. Because it fell in the timeline following the events of Captain America: Civil War, Johannson was able to reprise her role and give her story the rightful treatment within the MCU. But it also set the stage for Florence Pugh to take over as the next Black Widow in the franchise.
And Florence Pugh made another appearance recently in the Disney+ series Hawkeye where she’s on the hunt for Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton. It’s an interwoven story, calling back the relationship Barton had with her sister. Marvel is careful in this way, setting up stories across multiple productions that end up dovetailing in some way.
Next up for Florence Pugh are a number of different productions. She’s working under Olivia Wilde’s direction in Don’t Worry Darling. Other notables there include Gemma Chan, Harry Styles, and Chris Pine. Then there will be Zach Braff’s A Good Person with Morgan Freeman and Molly Shannon.
