Tom Holland already has specific plans and pitches for Spider-Man 4. Could that mean he is definitely getting back into the Spidey suit?

As if there wasn’t already enough speculation surrounding the future of both Spider-Man and Tom Holland in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the 25-year-old web-slinging actor just made the future even more tantalizing regarding Spider-Man 4. We’ve seen the young actor don the suit and take on the likes of Vulture, Mysterio, and even Thanos himself. As we prepare to see him take on returning Spider-Verse villains like the Green Goblin and Doc Oc in next week’s debut of the third installment of the Spider-Man trilogy, Holland is already teasing fans with villains he has pitched the studio to conquer next.
Speaking with Fandom, Tom Holland discussed the unclear future the young actor has with Marvel. But Holland’s uncertainty hasn’t stopped him from making plans for future films including Spider-Man 4. Diving deeper into his ideas, Holland discussed some of his favorite villains that have graced Spider-Man comic books. “I think there are some interesting villains. I think Madame Web could be something that is really interesting and we could do it in our own way.” Next up, Holland named Spider-Man and Daredevil common enemy, Kingpin, saying, “I’d really like to come up against Wilson Fisk.”
And just add fuel to the speculation fire, Tom Holland also mentioned that he’d given some very specific ideas to the studio when it came to Spider-Man 4. But he wouldn’t go completely into detail, leaving just enough of a trail to drive fans wild. Holland said, “There is one idea that I have, that I have pitched to the studio — but by telling you that idea I’d be ruining (No Way Home) so I’m going to have to keep that one for myself.”
Madame Web was first introduced in 1980’s Spider-Man comics. Appearing as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis, Madame web was a clairvoyant and precognitive mutant. After passing on her powers and blindness before death, Julia Carpenter would take the mantle as Madame Web. As interesting as the character may be to Tom Holland and fans of the lore, the MCU has shown no clear hints at bringing the villain to life on the big screen.
Unlike Madame Web, Kingpin being featured in the next Spider-Man adaptation isn’t hard to believe. Vincent D’Onofrio brought the large and powerful crime lord to mainstream success with his portrayal of Wilson Fisk in Netflix’s Daredevil series. After years of fans begging the MCU to bring the beloved villain back, it seems they might just be doing that with Hawkeye. While there is still no confirmation, the studio has highly eluded the return of the notorious crime lord. Similarly, leaked photos depicting Charlie Cox as Daredevil alongside Tom Holland during filming had led many to speculate Kingpin’s possible return in Spiderman: No Way Home.
The third film in Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise doesn’t only act as a final chapter in the Homecoming trilogy, it also serves as the ending of Holland’s contractual obligations with the studio. However, recent news from franchise producer Amy Pascal revealed plans for a second trilogy with hopes to bring Holland back. While there’s not yet an official deal securing Holland or Spider-Man to future MCU projects, it’s an idea Holland has surely pondered considering his pitches for upcoming villains.
Tom Holland seems not only unsure about his future with Spider-Man, but acting entirely. The actor recently admitted to second-guessing his career choice, in something he called a “pre-mid life-crisis”. Luckily for fans of the young actor, it is likely Marvel studios won’t plan on releasing a new Spider-Man film anytime soon considering their jam-packed schedule of films. Holland recently said, “I’m happy to let someone else don the suit, but I also would love to squeeze back into that spandex again.” While the actor can surely continue to be involved with future projects, aging will likely be the final factor in his future as our friendly neighborhood spider.
