Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone Launches A New Spinoff Project
Yellowstone, starring Kevin Costner, is one of the surprise hit series over the last few years and now they have another spinoff project
The world of Yellowstone has grown in a way that few people could probably have ever imagined. Sure, the initial story was larger in scope from the get-go, telling the story of the Kevin Costner-led Dutton ranch and all of the machinations that go into keeping things running at the end. But I doubt many saw just how much the idea would spider-web over time, building out new stories and projects stemming from the original. Now, we have word there is another project for folks to take in about this world. Screenrant has it that a Yellowstone companion podcast has launched, with The Official Yellowstone Podcast now available on all platforms.
The podcast will keep things close to home with series regular Jefferson White, who plays Jimmy Hurdstrom, acting as host. The plan for the podcast is to have White bring in various stars, talent, and creatives from the series to talk about their collective experiences with the show, background on characters, and other tidbits that fans would find interesting. In the first episode, White interviewed Wes Bentley and Lucas Grimes who play Jamie and Kayce Dutton respectively (sons of Kevin Costner’s John). The goal of the podcast is to give a behind-the-scenes look at the show, adding to the overall story while providing insight into the process and motivation for the characters.
Apparently, the plan is for The OfficialYellowstone Podcast to air weekly episodes and other folks from the show will sit down as guests. As part of the initial announcement, series creator Taylor Sheridan will sit down with White to talk about the creation of the series and how the story has taken shape over the years. Sheridan has become one of the premier talents in the industry, lending his talent to a number of different programs and movies. Kelly Reilly (Bethany Dutton), Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler), and Kelsey Asbille (Monica Dutton) among others will make appearances. There is no word on whether Kevin Costner will sit down for an episode.
Yellowstone airs on Paramount Network and follows the story of Kevin Costner as John Dutton, the owner of the largest cattle ranch in Montana. Not just a show about modern-day cowboys, the series explores the deep roots of the family in the area and the battle lines formed around the high-stakes venture of cattle farming. The series is currently in its fourth season with the finale set for sometime around the New Year.
Kevin Costner and Yellowstone have been a total hit for the streamer spawning two upcoming spin-offs. The first is 1883 starring Faith Hill and Tim McGraw as the elder Duttons. The story will follow the family and others as they make their way across the frontier in search of the land that will one day be the home for the series. And then there will be 6666, set in the same time period as the original show, just at another ranch. In the meantime, saddle up for the end of this season of Yellowstone and enjoy a more in-depth look and listen for the show when it comes to the new podcast.
