Brad Pitt looks like he is set to take some laps around the race track sooner than later in a new movie he has coming down the pike. And with the A-lister already attached and a big-name director in the main chair, it looks like studios are backing up the proverbial Brinks trucks in order to get their hands on it. Deadline is reporting that the collaboration between Brad Pitt and director Joseph Kosinski has all of the major studios rolling out the red carpet to land it. This could be one of the bigger productions over the next couple of years with Jerry Bruckheimer on as executive producer as well.
There is no initial word about the title or even the plot of the film. But apparently, it will star Brad Pitt as a race car driver of some sort. Other than that, the details are being kept on the down-low. That being said, considering Kosinski is attached here suggests there will be some considerable adrenaline. Another high-profile movie of his is set to hit the big screen on May 27th of next year when we finally get a look at Top Gun: Maverick. The film has been long-delayed because of the pandemic, but it finally has a release in sight.
Deadline is saying that among the studios competing for the rights to this next Brad Pitt film are MGM, Sony, Universal, Disney, and Netflix. Of course, depending on who lands the film will certainly dictate not only its timeline but also how viewers will be able to watch when it finally releases. Only time will tell on that front and with the bidding heating up we are likely to have some answer for that relatively soon. These kinds of things tend to work out pretty quickly once the word gets out into the Hollywood ether.
As for Brad Pitt, things have been pretty quiet for the actor over the last couple of years. His last “big” releases were all the way back in 2019 with Ad Astra and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood both coming out that year. But with the pandemic, among other reasons, he hasn’t been in a feature film since. That is set to change soon though. For starters, Lost City of D is set to release on March 25th and has a star-studded cast. Along with Pitt, there is also Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, and Daniel Radcliffe in a story about a romance writer who is kidnapped along with her novel’s model.
And after that for Brad Pitt, there will be the action film Bullet Train by director David Leitch. It will be about five assassins who are caught together on the titular train fighting for their respective lives. In addition to Pitt, Sandra Bullock is in this one as well. And there is also Michael Shannon, Zazie Beetz, Joey King, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Plus he also is set to star in the ensemble Damien Chazelle film Babylon which is currently in post-production. That cast is jam-packed with Olivia Wilde, Tobey Maguire, and Margot Robbie among many others. We will have more news on this Brad Pitt racing movie as it comes out.
