Christina Ricci Just Got Cast As A Cosmic Inventor In Cyberpunk Movie
Christina Ricci observes a heist gone wrong when a brilliant exceptional mercenary with a disturbing past works with an insider to steal “the sphere” from an evil corporation.
Christina Ricci is best known for her typecast roles playing unconventional characters with a dark and quirky edge. She is beloved by her fans for her roles in acclaimed films such as The Addams Family, Sleepy Hollow, Casper, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Now, the 41-year-old Hollywood vet will once again woo fans with her next role, a cosmic inventor in the upcoming cyberpunk film, The Dresden Sun.
The upcoming film starring Christina Ricci observes a heist gone wrong when a brilliant exceptional mercenary with a disturbing past works with an insider to steal “the sphere” from an evil corporation. Meanwhile, a financial analyst that has grown tired of his job finds himself caught in the middle of deadly corporate rivals and is ultimately forced to run from a psychopathic military contractor. The indie film will be written and directed by Michael Ryan. Ryan has previously worked on Interpreters: a C& Earth Chronicle-Quantum 1, and The Silencer & The Sky. The film will be produced via Ryan’s production entity, Archetype Pictures.
Christina Ricci will play Dr. Dresden Corliss, an inventor of a cosmic technology who is grieving over the death of a loved one. Joining Ricci is Samantha Win (Army of the Dead) and Terry Maratos (Sex in the City) as leads in the film. While very little information on the film has been released yet, it appears the story may be canon with director Michael Ryan’s previous work on his 2019 film, Interpreters. The film followed the Sullen community where residents are slowly being killed off. The film reveals a darker scheme and more dangerous threat, as the investigation uncovers a plot involving the C & Earth corporation, which is also mentioned in the plot for the upcoming film.
Christina Ricci first rose to fame with her breakthrough role as Wednesday Addams in the surprising 1991 hit remake, The Addams Family. Although only ten years old when the film gained vast success, she was praised for her astonishing acting skills. From there on out, Ricci became one of Hollywood’s most sought-after young actresses, landing her roles in other classic family films like Now and Then and Casper. Furthermore, the teen actress went on to cement her adult career with roles in both Sleepy Hollow and Monster, both of which she received plenty of critics’ approval.
Moving away from film, Christina Ricci built up her television career more predominantly in the last decade. Her first main character television role came in 2011 with the celebrity part in Pan Am, a period drama named for the iconic Pan American World Airways that followed the airline’s operations in the 1960s. In 2015, Ricci took a play out of her old character roles when she played the lead in Lifetime’s series, Lizzie Borden Took an Ax. The slasher depicted Ricci as the titular character, who brutally murders her parents. Most recently, the actress has played Misty on the new showtime hit TV series, Yellowjacket.
Although only two episodes in, Christina Ricci is already being praised for her dark brilliance in the role. While it is still unknown when exactly we can see Ricci take her new role in the upcoming cyberpunk film, we can anticipate the actress’s surely successful part in the upcoming long-awaited return to the Matrix in The Matrix Resurrections, set to hit theatres at the end of December.
