There's some awesome gameplay footage that's leaked for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto Trilogy!

Sample footage of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition trickles ahead of official release tomorrow, Chris Scullion of Video Games Chronicle reports. The next-generation re-release of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is turning out to be the Resident Evil of remasters and early birds can’t wait for the world to see it. With no official comparison video coming out of Rockstar’s main stronghold, eager gamers sought to fill the void with gameplay footage of their own, taken from preliminary releases on the PlayStation 5.
The clips of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition compiled by VGC are about one hour long when spliced together. YouTuber okayjosh streamed 30 minutes of Grand Theft Auto III live and over 40 minutes of Vice City across two separate videos. The remaining sample from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was posted on the GTATrilogy subreddit by Redditor Zombathon67890 and only lasted 38 seconds. Prepare to reel in your inner thug at how picture-perfect these new remasters are. Previous versions have nothing on a ninth-generation makeover. Check them out:
Rockstar does eventually come forward with an official gameplay video (and a heap of high-definition screenshots) breaking down the central differences between the original three and the remasters in less than two minutes. The result is just about the same as the leaked footage, only with more streamlined presentation and the impressive look of seeing the changes all at once. As frustrating as it is that Rockstar would seemingly rather reuse old content than introduce fresh meat, the New York developer may have finally outdone itself in this remaster, with shifts in lighting, ambience, and general accessibility as different as night and day. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is essentially classic GTA with a brand new coat of paint, an oldie in a next-generation Grand Theft Auto V’s body. Revel at the massive upgrades below:
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is a top-down restoration of all three PlayStation 2-era games — the same beating heart enclosed in a more advanced exoskeleton. The most striking improvements are of the visual kind; similar to the Marvel’s Spider-Man remaster, developers experimented with more dynamic color palettes, applying an extensive real-world touch with interactive lighting, more responsive NPCs, and a more lifelike environment. Weather and time of day are more expressive, with fans seeing callbacks to Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto V. The characters themselves have been redrawn for better depiction of emotion. Gone are the days when every single element of Grand Theft Auto involves boxy, pixelated art.
Performance enhancements are just as comprehensive. Over 200 songs from 29 radio stations across all three games have made it to the remasters (check out the full song list here), as well as modern control settings making all three games a step more playable. The addition of Achievements and Trophies for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S incorporate much-needed competitive layers into old-school Grand Theft Auto, while motion-controlled Gyro aiming and touch screen mechanics a la Skyward Sword HD spice up an otherwise dull Nintendo Switch experience. PC versions are compatible with NVIDIA DLSS. More cosmetic reimplementations include consistent redesigns across the board: a more intuitive user interface (UI), easier-to-navigate mini maps, and updated radio station and weapons wheels styled after newer Grand Theft Auto entries. It’s the original Grand Theft Auto trilogy like nothing the fanbase has ever seen.
If this is what Rockstar can do to an old Grand Theft Auto with enough time and resources on its hands, one can’t even begin to imagine what sort of new-generation adjustments are heavily in place for the studio’s PlayStation 5 reiteration of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is currently available to pre-load on consoles and comes out digitally at 3 PM GMT on November 11, tomorrow, on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Rockstar Games Launcher.
