This article is more than 2 years old
Jennifer Garner made her first big imprint in Hollywood way back in 2001 when she landed the role of Sydney Bristow in J.J. Abrams’ spy-fi drama Alias and since then fans have seen the West Virginia native act in everything from romantic comedies like 13 Going on 30 to action-thrillers like Peppermint. Her versatility certainly has not gone unnoticed. MovieWeb recently reported that Jennifer Garner just signed a contract with Netflix to star in a number of movies including a sequel to the widely popular Netflix Original family movie Yes Day.
In the movie Yes Day, directed by Miguel Arteta, Jennifer Garner plays the kind-hearted but rather strict mom Allison Torres. She stars alongside Edgar Ramirez who plays the more lenient and spontaneous dad, Carlos Torres. In a nutshell, the film is about two parents who decided that for one day that they would say yes to every request that each of their three kids makes, the consequences that accompany their decision, and ultimately, the lessons that each family member walks away with at the end. Movieweb highlighted that the simple, yet heartwarming plot has since been streamed more than 62 million times since its initial release on the platform back in March, which puts it at the very top of the list of Netflix Originals in terms of success.
Yes Day 2 is not the only movie that Jennifer Garner is slated to film for the streaming platform. Even though, apart from Yes Day 2 an official list of the titles that Jennifer Garner signed on for has not been released, Scott Stuber, the head of global film at Netflix, recently expressed in a public statement his excitement over the fact that he’ll be working with Jennifer Garner on multiple upcoming projects.
In return, according to the website Geek Tyrant, Jennifer Garner also complemented the Netflix team when she said, “I am honored to join the awesome group of creatives in the Netflix family, and I am extremely excited to work with their passionate and innovative teams across all departments. I had the most gratifying, creative, experience bringing ‘Yes Day’ to life.”
While it is clear that the streaming giant, Netflix is just as happy to be working with Jennifer Garner as she is to be working with them, fans will still have to wait for any further information regarding the plot specifics of Yes Day 2. Additionally, it is still unclear as to what other projects Jennifer Garner will be collaborating with Netflix on.
There has also been a lot of speculation about other future plans that Jennifer Garner might have in the works. Giant Freakin’ Robot reported that she teased a possible Alias reboot when she said that even at 48-years-old she was all for bringing back what now can be considered a cult classic and starring alongside her former co-stars including Bradley Cooper, Victor Garber, and Michael Vartan. Rumors have even circulated about Marvel bringing Jennifer Garner back to star as Elektra in a possible Daredevil remake down the line. However, outside of her expressing her desire to partake in a reboot and what is largely fan speculation regarding her reprising her role as Elektra, nothing official has been announced or confirmed.
