A Chris Pratt Blockbuster Is Climbing The Charts On Streaming
Audiences are rediscovering this Chris Pratt film as it climbs the charts on streaming today.

We may be a year away from getting another installment of the Chris Pratt-led Jurassic World series but that’s not stopping a previous installment from climbing the Amazon charts as it sits at #9 this week.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the second film in the Jurassic World trilogy and the fifth movie in the Jurassic Park franchise. Chris Pratt returns from Jurassic World along with Bryce Dallas Howard.
We pick up Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom shortly after the events of Jurassic World where a mercenary team travels to Isla Nublar in order to collect DNA from the Indominus rex remains that are at the bottom of the island’s lagoon. They do so but not after having to escape the T-Rex and Mosasaurus, who they accidentally release into the ocean.
Three years later, the debate rages on, all without Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady. Senate hearings are taking place on whether to save the dinosaurs on Nublar or let them perish in the impending volcanic eruption. Mathematician Dr. Ian Malcom (a brief cameo by Jurassic Park’s Jeff Goldblum) is on hand to share his thoughts that the dinosaurs must be allowed to die naturally on the island to right the John Hammond (the original creator of Jurassic Park) wrong of cloning dinosaurs.
Claire Dearing (Howard), the former operations manager of Jurassic World, has in the meantime established a Dinosaur Protection Group to save the dinosaurs on the island.
When the Senate votes against saving the dinosaurs, Claire’s presence is requested by Sir Benjamin Lockwood (James Cromwell), a former partner of John Hammond, where Lockwood and his aide, Eli Mills, explain to her their plan to move the dinosaurs to a new island sanctuary. Claire is needed to go to Nublar and reactivate the island’s tracking system to locate all the remaining dinosaurs. Of course, they are especially interested in Blue, the last surviving Velociraptor.
As Claire wishes to save the dinosaurs, she enlists the help of Owen Grady (Chris Pratt). The two have had a falling out since the end of the first movie, so it takes a little convincing to get Grady to go along with the plan.
The group, consisting of Claire, Grady, former park tech Franklin Webb, paleo-vet Zia Rodriguez, and a whole mercenary team led by Ken Wheatley (Ted Levine) get to Isla Nublar as the island is teetering on the brink of a volcanic eruption.
After the tracking system is brought back online, the team tracks and finds Blue. But the encounter isn’t a simple one, escalating to the point where Blue is shot and Grady is tranquilized by Wheatley. Blue is then taken by Wheatley, who also nabs Rodriguez as a hostage to treat Blue.
Wheatley and company, along with the captured dinosaurs, abandon Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady, Claire, and Franklin along with the dinosaurs they didn’t take, to die in the volcanic eruption. As Wheatley is having the mercenary ship loaded with dinosaurs, Grady, Claire, and Franklin are able to steal aboard the ship.
On the ship, the only way Blue will survive is by blood transfusion. Zia uses T-Rex blood to save Blue.
As the ship hits open waters, Grady and Claire realize that Wheatley isn’t taking the dinosaurs to a safe island but instead to the U.S. mainland. There the dinosaurs will be transported to the Lockwood Estate where the dinosaurs will be sold in a black market auction.
Also at the Lockwood Estate, a new dinosaur will be previewed. The new species is called an Indoraptor, a weaponized, transgenic dinosaur whose creator is Dr. Henry Wu. The good doctor created this new species by combining T-Rex and Velociraptor DNA. Wu needs Blue’s DNA so he can create an even more enhanced Indoraptor, one that can understand commands. What Wu does not know is that Blue’s blood is now tainted with T-Rex blood.
Learning all this information is Lockwood’s orphaned granddaughter, Maisie. She takes this knowledge to her grandfather, who then confronts Mills about the diabolical plans. After Mills disposes of Lockwood, we learn that Maisie was cloned from Lockwood’s deceased daughter and it was the reason why Hammond, who was never for human cloning, ended their partnership.
Chris Pratt’s Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire find their way to the Lockwood Estate as the auction starts. But you can’t contain the dinosaurs. They were built to roam.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was a massive hit at the box office for Chris Pratt and the rest. J.A. Bayona took over the directing duties from Jurassic World’s Colin Trevorrow, though Trevorrow penned the script along with co-writer Derek Connolly.
Bayona was given a massive budget between $170-187 million to bring the dinosaurs to the mainland and was rewarded with a box office take of over $1.3 billion. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom became the third movie in the franchise to cross the billion-dollar mark while also becoming the 12th-highest-grossing film of all time.
Chris Pratt has come a long way from his early days as Andy Dwyer on the hit sitcom Parks and Recreation. In fact, you may not know this, but Parks and Recreation was not Pratt’s first go-around on television.
Prior to the popular sitcom, Chris Pratt got his start on the series Everwood, one that lasted four seasons and also starred Emily VanCamp (Marvel’s Sharon Carter). He then moved on to The O.C. before finally landing on Parks and Recreation.
Chris Pratt’s popularity on the sitcom brought him the opportunity to crossover to feature films. He grabbed roles in movies such as Bride Wars, Jennifer’s Body, Moneyball, The Five-Year Engagement, Zero Dark Thirty, and the remake of The Magnificent Seven.
Chris Pratt’s calling card, though, would come in 2014 when he signed on to be Peter Quill in the massively popular Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The film brought Pratt even more attention, vaulting him up the list as one of the most sought-after actors.
Beginning in 2017, Chris Pratt would be in a number of high-profile movies. In 2017, he returned as Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He would then follow that up in 2018 as Quill in Avengers: Infinity War while also in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Those two films combined to bring in over $3 billion at the box office in 2018.
Chris Pratt would play Quill one more time in 2019s Avengers: Endgame, another billion-dollar moneymaker. Actually, closer to $3 billion.
Chris Pratt remains highly sought after and busy. He was just seen in the Amazon Original film, The Tomorrow War, and Pratt will next return to familiar ground. Pratt will reprise his role as Peter Quill in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder and we’ll also see him return to his Jurassic World ways in Jurassic World: Dominion.
Of course, in the not-too-distant future, Chris Pratt will hit the big screen once again as Peter Quill in the highly anticipated film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. For now, you can catch him in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on Amazon.
