The DC cinematic universe currently has many upcoming projects that fans have been eagerly awaiting, which includes Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson. Even though filming has finally wrapped up after major delays, all is not well between Pattinson and Reeves according to a recent report, which puts a serious dent in the future of potential Batman films.
We Got This Covered has reported that its sources have shared that Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves apparently detest each other’s presence and hate working together. Reportedly, the reason behind the clash is Reeves’ inclination towards perfectionism, which seemingly bothered Pattinson, and this led to their relationship turning sour.
As per the publication, the bitterness between Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves has progressed to a point where the actor has refused to ever work with the director, at least until he gets a proper apology. This is not the first time that reports of trouble brewing behind the scenes between Pattinson and Reeves have cropped up.
Since the beginning of this year, it has been reported numerous times that Robert Pattinson is not really impressed with Matt Reeves’ style of working. According to a report earlier this year, the Twilight star wanted more creative control over how he approaches the character of Batman but Reeves already had his own vision of the character in place which caused the duo to argue with each other. This was followed by insider Grace Rudolph claiming that the actor and the director are not exactly on friendly terms and don’t like each other.
Even though The Batman has finished filming, this will not be the last time Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson work together. It has already been reported by Deadline that Warner Bros. plans to make at least two more sequels of the film and these reports of animosity between Pattinson and Reeves don’t bode well for the future of the franchise. In case the rumors are true and The Batman ends up being a booming success, it is obvious that it won’t be Pattinson who will be bidding farewell to the franchise being the face of the new iteration of Batman and all.
But at the same time, all these clashes between the two have been reported without any solid evidence as proof. Also, Deadline had reported that Robert Pattinson was considered by Warner Bros. because Matt Reeves was impressed with the actor and he has reportedly already signed the next two Batman films.
The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle a.k.a. Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton a.k.a. The Killer, Jeffrey Wright as police officer James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the disfigured crime lord Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot / Penguin, John Turturro as Gotham city crime lord Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as district attorney Gil Colson, Barry Keoghan as officer Stanley Merkel, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, and Alex Ferns portrays Commissioner Pete Savage. Gil Perez-Abraham, Rupert Penry-Jones, Charlie and Max Carver, and Con O’Neill have been cast in undisclosed roles.
While the film has faced many delays in shooting and in its subsequent release due to the pandemic, the filming finally wrapped up in March 2021 and the film is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on March 4, 2022.
